Back in March, Bulbanews reported that Pokémon Pokopia had sold over 2.2 million units in its first four days, and was on track to become one of the best-selling Pokémon spin-off games ever. Five months from launch, it now appears to be the best-selling Pokémon spin-off yet, though confirming this requires some math.

A new trailer and press release have provided players with their first look at a selection of new features coming in the first two parts of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, as well as confirming that Part 1 will launch next week on August 5th alongside the free Version 2.0 update. Pokémon Pokopia's next in-game event, “Zorua’s Hide-and-Sneak Contest” (Japanese: 「かくれおに大会」 Hide-and-Seek Tournament) will be held from Sunday, July 19th at 5:00am (local time) to Monday, July 27th at 4:59pm (local time).

Pokémon Pokopia's next in-game event, “Wish Upon a Jirachi” will be held from Tuesday, June 23rd at 5:00am (local time) to Wednesday, July 8th at 4:59pm (local time). During the event period, players can encounter Jirachi and obtain sparkling wish notes, which can be exchanged for furniture and décor inspired by the starry sky.

In the Nintendo Direct video presentation that aired earlier today, fans got their first look at new paid DLC for Pokémon Pokopia, which will release in three waves beginning in August this year alongside a free Version 2.0 update. The Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass is available for pre-purchase now on the Nintendo eShop.

Pokémon Pokopia's next in-game event, “Sableye's Gem Hunt” will be held from Wednesday, April 29th at 5:00am (local time) to Thursday, May 14th at 4:59pm (local time). During the event period, players can befriend Sableye to receive requests to collect red crystal fragments found on Dream Islands, which can then be exchanged for themed items, including furniture, building kits, and more.

Pokémon Pokopia's next in-game event, “Bulbasaur's Jump Rope Contest” will be held from Sunday, April 19th at 5:00am (local time) to Sunday, April 26th at 4:59pm (local time). During the event period, players can participate in a jump rope mini-game by talking to Bulbasaur in front of the Pokémon Center, and receive various prizes based on their scores and consecutive streaks.

In celebration of the recent release of Pokémon Pokopia, several cities in Europe are seeing urban spaces transformed into Pokopia gardens, complete with Pokémon and other elements from the game among the plants. Pokopia gardens in London, Berlin, and Paris are all free and open to the public today, and will each stay open for several months.

The Pokémon Company is offering some sales data for the newly released Pokémon Pokopia, which had its worldwide release on March 5th. The company states that it sold more than 2.2 million units of Pokopia in its first four days, putting it on track to become one of the best-selling spin-off games in the Pokémon franchise.

The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the White House has shared a meme making use of the Pokémon Pokopia logo, to the chagrin of The Pokémon Company International (TPCi). The Tweet features Donald Trump’s infamous mantra, Make America Great Again, in the Pokopia title font. TPCi has responded with a statement firmly disassociating itself from the controversial administration. Sravanthi Dev, spokesperson for TPCi, said: We are aware of recent social content that includes imagery associated with our brand. We were not involved in its creation or distribution, and no permission was granted for the use of our intellectual property. Our mission is to bring the world together, and that mission is not affiliated with any political viewpoint or agenda. TPCi has previously had to distance itself from the Trump White House, when in September of last year the official Department of Homeland Security (DHS) X account posted a video with the “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” tagline...

Lots of new merchandise has been released in the lead up to the Pokémon franchise’s 30th anniversary, and this week saw even more announcements and debuts of Pokémon-themed goods. Frequent Pokémon partner Uniqlo is offering customizable Pokopia t-shirts at their locations in Japan, while Puma, another continuing collaborator, has announced their new Pikachu sneakers. Plus, Pokémon Centers worldwide have added plenty of plushes of Ditto posing as other Pokémon, available online now.

Pokémon Pokopia released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on March 5th, and is already introducing new content to the game, with the confirmation of multiple limited time special events to be held in the game. The first of these, “More Spores for Hoppip” (Japanese: 「ハネッコのわたげあつめ」 Hoppip Fluff Collecting) will be held from Monday, March 9th at 1:00pm (PDT) / 8:00pm (UTC) to Tuesday, March 24th at 12:59pm (PDT) / 7:59pm (UTC).

The Pokémon Presents preview of Pokémon Pokopia has revealed some new details about the game, including some new characters and lots of new multiplayer functionality. Pokémon Pokopia is scheduled to release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, worldwide on March 5th.

The release of Pokémon Pokopia is fast approaching, and the new cozy spin-off is getting its own collection of merchandise at Pokémon Centers in Japan. The collection features characters and environments from the game, including its humanoid Ditto player characters. The Pokopia merch collection will arrive at Pokémon Centers in Japan and at the Pokémon Center Online on March 5th, in conjunction with the game’s release.

In Pokémon Pokopia, players take on the role of a Ditto. Soon after waking up from a long sleep of who knows how many years, and adopting a human form based on a photo on a battered old Generation I Kanto-style Pokédex that was near it when it woke, Ditto meets Professor Tangrowth, who has been living alone for a long time in what appears to be the long abandoned ruins of a town or city that was once called home by both humans and Pokémon. Encouraged by Professor Tangrowth, Ditto takes it on themselves to cultivate and shape the land into the perfect habitat for Pokémon.

As was rumoured, the September 12th Nintendo Direct has delivered for Pokémon fans, with the announcement of a brand new Pokémon spin-off game developed by Koei Tecmo Games, Pokémon Pokopia, which will release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
