Yeah that's right. We've made it a thousand days since DP came out in Japan. And over those thousand, we've gone from discovering some of the more exciting and powerful new evolutions to old Pokémon to seeing that the event Pokémon Game Freak had hidden away from us had even more abilities than we figured at the start.

Shaymin, started as a simple "eh, another Mew" thing. And Sky Forme changed that like no other Pokémon has. Who could've foreseen that at all?

Giratina's Origin Forme as well. From the start we'd suspected that it'd be the mascot of the third game, with its similarity to Dialga and Palkia, but no one figured that that would happen.

And of course, the revelation of something we've all wanted since the end of last generation: HGSS.

Ah, what an eventful 1000 days Generation IV's had. And we don't even have the first Gen V Pokémon revealed yet. Keep in mind, though, from this point it's still 408 more days (longer than a year) until Generation IV is longer than Generation III was, counting the days of Japanese release. Which it likely will be, what with Gen V still unannounced, but at least we have an idea of what's coming, unlike what that suspenseful period during 2007 was after DP came out in the States.

So what're your opinions on how Gen IV's changed the series, and how do they differ from your opinions on the first release of the games?

Gen IV has, without a doubt, re-energized the series with new ideas including the Move Type split, graphical updates, full Wi-Fi trading and the Wi-Fi Event Distribution, Etc. It has also been true to Pokemon and kept the tried and tested game play and easy to pick up, play and enjoy formula.

Plus, as you say TTEchidna, it will be brining us HGSS!

I have only one complaint, but this is something the EU has always had a problem with, and that is events. But hey we have had some so who knows, maybe more will be on the way.

What a thing to commemorate. To think it's been that long already...

Do we even know if there are going to be any new Pokemon?

No, we don't, but since this gen has done so well, everyone feels it's inevitable. I say I'll believe it when I see it. Anyway, yes, the fourth gen brought the fandom out of the darkness and people who left started to return. I'm sure even more will return for the remakes, but it's not over yet. The more I see of HG/SS, the more I'm impressed. It won't be as mind blowing as G/S were on their release because I don't think that much innovation can be done at once anymore, but it may end up being one of the best loved main series games since the original second gen.

Go Gen IV! Who would have thought that it's been 1000 days already? And we don't even have HGSS yet! That'll be about another 500 days. Gen IV was awesome though, much better than Gen III IMO. We got the physical/special split, the return of the time system, and the entire land of Sinnoh. Let's hope that Gen IV will outlast Gen III!

Jesus, how time flies. I remember the day Diamond and Pearl came out in America and was imported too this shop where I live.

yup. thousend days is a long time. Soon we'll get Gen V (well, soon.. in about a year or two, three?) HG/SS isn't even out yet and I'm already dying for R/S remakes. Gen IV did cool things, like wi-fi and the move split, but it also removed some cool things from gen III like Hoenn contests and secret base battles. I really hope gen V makes pokemon games as perfect as possible by adding the best things out of every generation ^^

By the way, yeah, I am going to do this for Gen V if I'm still here for its 1000th day. But you know how long that might take...

Generation IV has provided a lot more combat depth, allowing battles to be more unpredictable and multifaceted. Plus it brought the world online and made the series finally feel totally polished. I'd say it's the most influential generation we've had so far, except for the first, of course.

yup. and I'm already dying for R/S remakes.

.. I think you might need to read this

FORUM
Anyone thinking HGSS is hinting to no 3rd gen remake?

THE FOLLOWING IS FROM ANOTHER FORUM

Exactly. There's no evidence either way.

Two in a row is not a pattern. You cannot use 'patterns' as evidence for an RS remake, it simply won't work. You've said yourself that there is no evidence whether the pattern will continue or not, so a 'pattern' is by no means evidence for a remake.

So now you're suggesting that an RS remake is guaranteed? How ridiculous. I didn't even suggest that there was no chance, I just said it was definitely not certain.

That is in no way hypocritical. The reason a Generation III remake would wasn't because they are unnecessary in terms of gameplay but because there was already a remake in that generation. Generation II did not feature a remake. Suggesting that RS will be due a remake is simultaneously suggesting that FRLG are due a remake, they are only a fraction more developed than RS! If GF remake RS, then they will be leaving RB behind. Since they can't commit themselves to a constant chain of remakes (I'm sure everyone agrees, that would be ridiculous) they have to stop somewhere! Eventually, one series is going to be left behind and seeing as Generation III already features remakes, I would suggest that a sensible time for GF to stop remaking games would be now, before a word is breathed on the topic "Do you think they'll remake FRLG?"

I'd say, Game Freak can't just keep making remakes and main series and endless remakes it will be a trend thing. Look at the forum for more ..info.

yup. and I'm already dying for R/S remakes.

If you want one, well I just gotta say not very many people want them, .. but I dunno.

This generation pwned the third one. I'm gonna love HG/SS. Generation 5 will probably pwn too.

Damnit, I'm late.

Happy 1000th day anniversary,Gen IV! If this is the last year of Gen IV and Gen V hits the shelves next year, I'll do some killing. >> But so far, it's my favorite generation. The first generation used to be my favorite, but now it's my second favorite. I didn't like R/S that much, but I overall, I liked the third generation.(Emerald was amazing though.) Even though I like GSC more than RS, I prefer the third over the second generation to be honest.

Anyways, I want Gen IV to last longer than Gen III. I just hope it lasts long in general and enjoy it before this generation is up, which is why I don't like people talking about Gen V and wanting it sooner.
