Could this be true? I read somewhere, (can't remember) that originally Nintendo had made 1000 pokemon and we only see 493 or so now, so there could be way more. Maybe showing Ho-oh in the first anime episode might prove this, maybe not... Anyone have any thing on this?

Because aparently there is a Pokemon 494 called " arnaca" which resembles Acreus. Or the pokemon 494-500 are:

494 = normal Egg
495 = Manafi Egg
496 = Attack form of Deoxys
497 = Defense form of Deoxys
498 = Speed form of Deoxys
499 = Yellow, Bug/Ground version of wormadom
500 = Pink, Bug/Steel version of wormadom

Do you believe everything or something? there is no 494th Pokémon. None of that is true.

No just wondering if that were true. Think arnaca was just a hack or something, and there is a Acreus type ???, but its not obtainable in the game though.

I highly doubt they have designed anywhere near 1,000 Pokemon so far.

Certainly they'll get there someday, unless the games stop being profitable (which isn't likely), but it isn't likely to happen soon.

They've probably got 500 some odd Pokemon designed at the current time. I doubt they've designed that many 5th gen Pokemon yet.

They could have designed 1000 prototypes, but I don't think we'll see all 1000 of them made into game critters. Maybe we'll get to 1000 eventually, but that will require new ones, not just stockpiled characters.

And puh-leeze, you have to stop believing everything you read. If there was a 494th in these games, hackers would have uncovered it the way they uncovered Shaymin and Arceus.

All of Deoxys' forms are given the same type, just like with Wormadam.

This rumor's been around for years. A lot of people swear that Satoshi Tajiri thought up the designs for 1000 pokemon way back in the Red/Green days, yet nobody has ever provided a source for this "information."

And even if they did make over 1000 pokemon designs for the first gen, most of them were clearly put on the cutting room floor, never to be seen again. The only one I know of to be saved was Ho-oh, which is why it was in the first ep. Besides, do you really think it would take so long to make a game if you just had a hat to draw pokemon from and say "Ok, we're putting this in." It would also be an insult in my opinion to even think that they do that. Finally, there was an article in Nintendo Power (I think) where they were asked how pokemon are made, and they revealed that they make the region first, and then the pokemon to go in it. True, sometimes they do back to designs they abandoned and develop it better to put in the next gen. Shellos was also a pokemon that got the axe in the third gen, but they brought it back for the fourth gen. There is no secret pool of pokemon.

It's probably not true because if it is, someone who works in Game-Freak and quited his job will tell everyone about those pokes...besides, maybe all thosse 1000 pokemons are merely prototypes and they fuse or cut and paste some of their parts to another pokemon in real pokemon game?NO 1 knows...but maybe its true about that 1000 pokes...but i higly doubt...

About Ho-oh, it's probably just one pokemon that poped in their head before making second gen.

almost 1 year before 4th gen released, I saw a sprite on a blog(forgot the adress, sorry) that looked almost same as Dialga.

One thing's for sure. They're obviously going to release a third installment in the Diamond and Pearl series and then after that the next installments will either be on the DS or the next Nintendo handheld.

I've heard that the number is 1100+.

I've heard that the number is completely bogus. From my top source, "Mr. Common Sense"

This rumor is probably older than some members of this forum, and it's no truer than the Pokegods, Pikablu, Myuu under the truck, Masaki's garden, Kasumi returning for Satoshi's battle against Adan, Getting Yoshi, Butterfree dying, or just about any other rumor from the franchise.

Pikablu exists. It's just busy fighting aliens.

This is just something based around a shred of truth. Are there Pokemon they've designed and not used? Yes (though...could you really call them Pokemon if they're never officially used?). Do they design a Pokemon, then hold off on using it? Apparently so. Do they have 1000 Pokemon sitting around? Seems...unlikely. I could see them brain-storming a thousand every generation, and trashing most of them, but not just sitting around in a file somewhere.

1175 was the number of pokemons created by satoshi tajiri,the number was reveled in one interview about 9 years ago.

Lol at Nova-chu!

If it was the special surfing Pikablu (liek teh onez i gtz frm pokeyman pink) then he'd totally have to look like the silver surfer :).

<on topic>

I definetly think that there is a huge number of pokemon that we hav'nt seen and probobly never will.

But i think its pretty naive to think that there are a pool of pokemon just waiting to be picked for each Gen.

Ho-Oh being shown in the first episode in the Anime proves nothing. The Anime was made over a year into the initial release of the franchise, and during the production of GSC.
