On Saturday, February 13th 1999, Pokemon was moved from syndication to the WB's Saturday morning cartoon block, Kids WB. Here is the actual premiere promo for the show's run on Kids WB:

First episode shown was "The Problem With Paras". The show would continue to show new episodes 'till early 2006.

So, what are your memories of watching Pokemon on Kids WB? I can actually clearly remember the day when "Volcanic Panic" premiered. I was really excited to see Charizard battle. I had my Fruity Pebbles and blanket all set, sitting on the couch ready for a great episode of Pokemon. It's still one of my favorite episodes of the show.

I also loved the little bumpers Kids WB made for the block. They would sometimes have Pokemon characters interacting with other show characters, such as Batman. I thought it was really cool.

So its officially been 10 years since the dub started on KidsWb eh? My how time flies.

I was one of those people who saw "The Problem with Paras" as my very first episode on KidsWB, and being confused as to why I was in the middle of the series and where all the earlier episodes were.

Its scary because I grew up while watching this show, (we all did, its been 10 years after all), so its funny to see it still going on. Never would I have imagined this show would still be going on 10 years later, its almost unbelieveable how long its gone on.

The Pokemon anime really was a tremendous success, there's no doubt about it. 10 years later and its still airing with almost 600 episodes, absolutely crazy.

WOW. It's been ten years today, huh.

I know people don't like, "The Problem with Paras", but I always found it to be a funny and silly filler episode.

My favorite memory of watching it on KidsWB was probably when they aired the first two episodes of Advanced Generation as preview episodes, since the American dub was still in Johto when Ruby/Sapphire was released in America.

I always thought it was a great move to do. Whosoever idea it was whether it was Nintendo of America, 4Kids, or KidsWB because it made me excited for Ash's adventures in Hoenn.

I remember squee-ing like mad when they announced Meowth Week on the afternoon run. And obsessively watching the Johto eps that aired on weekdays.

Sad Neku was sad when they killed the afternoon block :(.

Also watching the morning Pokemon episodes before school. That was the best start to any day, ever.

I remember watching the orange island season on kids wb then I stopped watching during Johto because it was so boring then I watched the rest of the series until it left Kids WB

I was actually the one who originally posted this story on the Serebii.net forums and actually encoded the premiere commercial.

I also have the commercial for Meowth Week that you are talking about and I'll try to upload it soon to the same Youtube account.

Nevertheless, I distinctly remember this day 10 years ago. I had seen every episode prior to 'The Problem With Paras' during their second run in syndication and impatiently waited for new episodes. I first got connected to the internet in January 1999 and found out that new episodes of Pokemon were going to air on Kids' WB!. Although 'Problem With Paras' wasn't that interesting of an episode, I remember being drawn to the promos showing scenes from upcoming episodes featuring "new stories, new heroes, new villains, and witnessing the birth of an all-new Pokemon species". The next couple episodes would not be a let-down and "The Song of Jigglypuff" and "Attack of the Prehistoric Pokemon" were some of the best episodes. All in all, it's incredibly hard to believe that a decade has passed before our eyes and that Pokemon has been around for nearly half our lives (if you're 25 or younger)...and it's still going strong.

I caught the first showing of The Problem with Paras, but only like three or so minutes of it. I was vaguely aware of the series already and had already seen a handful of eps (I distinctly remember a commercial announcing that Pokémon would be moving to Kids' WB). Pretty sure I quit watching it because I saw Charmeleon but hadn't seen the March of the Exeggutor Squad yet and didn't want to be spoiled on why "Charmander turned evil". XD

Hmm, one memory that sticks out is a commercial with Ash and Misty having a discussion about the new boy brought in to replace Brock and Misty wishing for him to be cute.

I remember this! It was so cool 10 years ago back when Pokemon was like drugs to kids everywhere!

Goodness, it's been 10 years huh...yeah this is the one I fairly remember, because it was the first I saw.

Wow. It's hard to believe it's been that long. That was back when WB still the Bruce Timm and Steven Spielberg shows running. Good times.

Yeah, they had Batman singing the Jigglypuff song (with Kevin Conroy's voice), and I believe Robin throwing Pokeballs during the commercials.

Fun stuff.

The idea of Batman, in full costume, singing to Tim Drake (and *not* Robin) is all sorts of weird.

I remember the network actually had some decent promos at first. After a while their promo guys stopped caring and put out some of the worst ads I've seen in my life, but they were decent for a while.

Anyone else remember how Kids' WB! aired so many of those Johto Journey and Johto League Champions episodes out-of-order?

I hardly saw any of the Johto episodes of Pokémon when they originally aired. I regret it now because now I really would like to see them but they never air anymore and there are no DVD box sets.

I still remember the first time I saw a commercial for the first movie during some random episode of the Indigo League. I flipped out because I couldn't believe they were really putting it in theaters. Of course the movie winded up sucking but I'm still a fan of it regardless for it's nostalgic value.

Not especially, but I still haven't gotten over the fact that those idiots skipped over May's last Hoenn Contest and didn't air it until after the Hoenn GF just because of Jynx.

Quite possibly the dumbest thing the network ever did in regards to Pokemon.

Oh god, I feel so old. I can't believe it been 10 years. I didn't start watching POkemon on Kids WB at first, but wow. And I do remembered Pokemon destroyed the other shows that was on WB at the time, and how they play the whole weekend block with all the episodes. Although I never seen anything so addicting back at the day, and as well better commericial like Dogasu.
