"Police confirmed that a 13-year-old girl's feet have been cut off at Six Flags' Kentucky Kingdom."

rest of article here

This sounds like something out of one of the Final Destination films. How horrible for that girl.

Damn.

Can they reattach the feet? One of my dad's friends had an accident with a rotary saw and lost three of his fingers and those were reattached without incident.

That really is a shame. Imagine how the girl who gave up her seat to that unfortunate 13-year-old must be feeling! I wonder if she is suffering a case of "survivor's guilt?"

Got-out-Unscathed Guilt? I know I would feel terrible. I'd probably donate my feet, were it medically possible.

The people quoted need to learn how to speak. :p

This is terrible - the Superman ride at our Six Flags is HUGE, and I wouldn't go on it for ANYTHING. These people must have been scared out of their minds by the ride when it was happening, too, so this must be a terrible mental experience as well. Not to mention seeing people missing body parts around you...

*shudders*

They could only attempt to reattach the feet if they found them and then got her to the hospital on time. Another article online stated that the girl's mother was on the ride with her. That gave me a cold shudder.

Apparently they've shut down similar rides all across the country (and at least one in Ontario) because of this. And the injured girl has undergone surgery, but they aren't saying anything more about it.

Source.

I dunno about that. Maybe she is, but if it were me that gave up the seat, I'd be thinking more along the lines of "Whoa, that could've been me" than "It's all my fault I should give her my feet."

Apparently they're still trying to figure out how in the heck the cable broke to begin with...

If you ask me, I think they should inspect those rides more often. A lot can happen in a year.

QFT. It shouldn't take an accident to step up precautions.

That is a very positive way to look at it, perhaps she is feeling fortunate. I (happily) have no idea how I would feel in a situation like that and I hope that I NEVER find out!

Has anyone heard whether or not they got her feet re-attached?

According to this article, she's in stable condition. The hospital personnel haven't publicly stated whether or not her feet were reattached.

I heard about this from my mom a little while ago! Gosh...and when I was at Disneyland last April, I went on a freefall ride or two. Man, my feet are kinda hurting now. *shudders*
I hope that girl's ok, though. Did they even find the feet?
And, I guess it's kinda good that this is the worst thing that happened, when you consider that the riders were just dropped to the ground from about 177 feet up, and going at 54 mph, you know? I'm not saying that this isn't awful, because it is, I'm just saying it's good no one died. I really do hope that girl regains use of her feet.

There's a similar ride at the Theme Park nearest me, too. However the entire state was up in arms about this and wanted it closed down. Never mind the fact that it works with brake pads instead of cables, it does the same thing! DESTROY IT!

Oh my god that's terrible. At an amusement park I live near a little boy was molested in the bathroom. it was terrible.
