1. Bulbapedia said official art stated that his age is 15. If time passed in the anime, he would be about 17-20 right now.

2. No clue.

Meh, if official art said he was around fifteen when the series began, then he was officially fifteen- and if it's official that the characters don't age (ftw) he's still fifteen. ...well, my fifteen year old brother looks like he's at least seventeen, so I guess he could pull off being fifteen still. XD;

I wish they'd officially clear up the age thing. People are convinced they don't age, people are convinced they do...

About the second question- you can go to Pocketmonsters.net (dunno how it works), or check out YouTube if there's any specific episodes you want to see.

If they haven't aged at all, then they're stuck in some rip in the space-time continuum.

When Ash returns to Viridian for his Earth Badge, he makes a comment about not believing that it had been an entire year since the last time he was there. That is a clear admission by the writers that time has indeed been moving forward. That also means that because Ash was 10 when he started his journey, he'd be (or at least be close) to 11. Even if he hadn't yet turned 11 in that episode, he most definitely turned 11 some time during the months between when he got his last Kanto badge and the start of the Indigo Conference.

Ash is around 14 or 15 as of Diamond and Pearl, depending on when exactly he started his journey.

Uhh...did it ever occur to you that this could be a dub-added comment?

Also, I'm sure it was Misty who said it was almost a year.

I doubt it, but even if it was, not even a toddler would believe that Ash has traveled through four different regions (Five, if you count the Battle Frontier, even though it's in Kanto.) and is still only ten.

It is generally seen as a year per region. Possibly a few months for places like the Orange Islands and the Battle Frontier.

The characters mature, but don't especially age. Ash could probably officially be a year or two older than Dawn right now or he could be 10 but more mature. It really just can go either way - when it comes to cartoons, often characters simply don't age - regardless of how often the changing of the year is acknowledged.

Garfield, the Simpsons etc all celebrate annual events ever year but the characters never age - only 'grow'.

I don't really see how it matters what age the characters are though. It's clear Ash is more mature than he was 10 years ago, but does it matter if he's actually 10 years older? Or 5 years older? Or 2? Or 1?

It's, all in all, pretty irrelevant as it has absolutely no bearing on the show whatsoever whether or not the characters actually age.

hmm, this gives me a theory. perhaps Dialga has all along been messing with time and causing for all the characters not to age. hey it may sound cheesy, but in the pokemon world it's very possible.

Western cartoons don't pay as much attention to continuity as anime does.

Funny thing is, that made me crack up laughing, and IRL to boot. Pokemon has VERY little since of continuity and it's a stunner if they pull it out.

And I'm on the fence about the aging/not-aging thing. I think they surely have had to, BUT...it's not been recognized in the original show, from what I'm aware of, and I'd like to see if it is ever brought up. Until then, if it happens, I haven't had the age issue bothering me so I've no problem. I thought it was worth mentioning though that the main characters having aged in Ash's journey hasn't been confirmed from what I know and it's pretty much a consensus amongst a good chunk of the fandom that they don't. Personally, I don't think about it.
