Sunday marks the 50th anniversary of the "Great American Race" (aka the Daytona 500). Many of you (or some of you) should've saw last year's race. With Kevin Harvick nipping Mark Martin by .02 seconds while pandemonium folds out behind them. But, if you saw last year's Daytona 500, would you say it was the best finish in auto racing history ?

I'd have to say in recent memory, I've seen nothing more spectacular, it's almost right out of Hollywood. If you've seen Taladaga Nights, then I'd say the 2007 Daytona final lap came close to matching the near calamity of the final part of that movie (sans the foot race to the finish).

As an Indy fan growing up, I've always biased Indy over NASCAR, so to find myself watching was a surprise to me. I was able to catch this race on completely by mistake. I'd been waiting for something and decided to turn on the TV and I get the Daytona 500, last 2 laps or so and everyone's poised for a restart. Restarts can be pretty rough, especially close to the end and I was kinda hoping something would happen on the startup, but I had no idea that the entire restart would cause such a mad dash that nearly the entire field was wiped out.

Yeah, it was pretty amazing compared to all other field crashes I've ever seen.
