It's been an annual tradition since i was a teenager for me to fill out one of the "Art Summary of the Year" templates each year and look back at the progress i've made in my artwork each year and i thought it would be nice to see everyone else's art progress if anyone else wanted to share!

I was literally looking for one of these when this thread was posted LOL. My art probably isn't the best for this format, since I draw almost exclusively character art (backgrounds are hard :P), but even with how miniscule some of the improvements are, I'm really proud of where I've made it this year.

I saw this thread this morning and realized I hadn't published any color illustrations this month, so I finished the December slot literally an hour before I put this together. 2025 was a really interesting year for my art! Getting commissions really gave me confidence in myself as an artist, but at the same time it made me think harder about what kind of art I want to make. I'm hoping 2026 will be an even better and more art-filled year!

i usually wait until my birthday to post mine (as it feels like a culmination of the year for me) so here's mine!!

I drew a surprising amount this year (although November was a bit dicey because of illnesses.) Hopefully getting back into the swing of things this month haha.

I think my main goal for next year is to not worry too much about cleaning up sketches. I think the one thing holding me back from posting is spending time cleaning up my sketches into something respectable... I should just lean into something a bit messier for next year lol.

Also I hope to find a new lineart brush next year, unfortunately something I encountered this year is that my beloved pencil brush doesn't really print well. And finding a new brush as fluffy and comfortable to use as that brush has been a task haha. I'll figure it out eventually.~
 
I used to do these super regularly when I was younger, but I haven't been able to make enough art each month to fill out all twelve months for the past couple years now T~T ... I totally thought I didn't have enough this year either, but to my surprise, I made it! ^o^ 2025 was kind of a huge downer for me, so I didn't draw as much as I'd like... Hopefully I'll be able to do more next year ~
I still didn't draw much during October and November though, aha... Had to settle with sketches for those two.

i usually do my art recaps with a different template, but figured it'd be fun to do a version with this one too d: gives me the chance to show off more stuff that i couldn't fit in the usual one. this year had its ups and downs art-wise but i think i'm gonna start 2026 strong :chansey:

I've had months where I've drawn a lot of full illustrations against months where I barely drew anything (￣▽￣*)ゞ Overall, I'm quite happy with 2025 art-wise!

September is a bit of an outlier because I barely drew digitally, I had fun with coloured pencils instead :bulbaLol:
 
throughout this year I’ve been a little bit annoyed at myself art wise because I found my improvement to be “stagnating” but as I look back at this I have found i did try to experiment with different things more this year which I am happy about !!
although I fear I did peak in july nothing I make will ever beat that one ( lighthearted )
