Pokémon GO monthly update for December 2021 details upcoming events

Niantic has delivered their monthly update of upcoming events in Pokémon GO, detailing a range of events that are scheduled to be running over the course of the month.

The following events will take place between December 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8) to January 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8).

Research Breakthrough encounters
Deino can be encountered in Research Breakthrough encounters after players complete seven days of Field Research tasks.

Pokémon Spotlight Hours
The following Pokémon and special bonuses will be featured every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time:

• December 7: Electabuzz | 2× Transfer Candy
• December 14: Magmar | 2× XP for evolving Pokémon
• December 21: Snover | 2× Catch XP
• December 28: Cubchoo | 2× Catch Candy

These Pokémon may also rarely appear in their Shiny variant.

Featured Pokémon in raids
All raid rotations will start and end at 10:00 a.m. local time on the dates listed.

The following Pokémon will be appearing in five-star raids:

• December 1 - December 16: Reshiram and Zekrom
• December 16 - December 31: Kyurem

Listed Pokémon may also rarely appear in their Shiny variants. These Shiny variants are making their Pokémon GO debut in these raids. Additionally, every Wednesday, a Raid Hour event will occur from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, featuring Pokémon that appear in the above timeframe.

The following Mega-Evolved Pokémon will be appearing in Mega Raids.

• December 1, 2021 - December 23, 2021: Mega Steelix
• December 23, 2021 - January 7, 2022: Mega Abomasnow

These Pokémon may also rarely appear in their Shiny variant.

Weekly 1 PokéCoin bundles
Every Monday in December, a one-time-purchase bundle containing a Remote Raid Pass and other items will be available in the shop for 1 PokéCoin.

Upcoming events
The monthly update also previews several additional events which will run over December.

• December Community Day: The final Community Day event will be held on both December 18, 2021, and December 19, 2021. During the event, Pokémon featured throughout 2021's Community Day events will be appearing more frequently in the wild. Additionally, Pokémon featured in 2020's Community Day events will be hatching from Eggs and appearing in raids.
• Swinub Incense Day: On December 5, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Swinub will be attracted more frequently to Incense. Additionally, both Ice-type and Ground-type Pokémon will be attracted to Incense throughout the day.
• Dragonspiral Descent: An event inspired by the Unova region's Dragonspiral Tower will take place from December 7, 2021, to December 12, 2021.
• Pokémon GO Holidays Part 1 and Part 2: The Pokémon GO Holidays event returns on December 16, 2021, and runs until December 31, 2021. Costumed Pokémon, Ice-type Pokémon will be appearing more frequently in the wild, event-exclusive Field Research, winter-themed avatar items, and a bonanza of bonuses will be available.
