The Pokémon Company International has announced that the 2022 Pokémon World Championships will be held from August 18th to 21st, 2022, at the enormous ExCeL London event center in England, which has also hosted previous Europe International Championships. The event will include competitions for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield video games, Pokémon GO, Pokémon UNITE, and Pokkén Tournament DX.

The 2022 World Championships will be the first time in history that the annual event has been held outside North America. Starting from 2022, the World Championships are now also a four-day event. Invited players will not have to pay an entry fee to participate at Worlds, but there will be a nominal fee for spectator badges. More information on the cost and availability of spectator badges will be announced at a later date. All staff, participants, customers, and spectators are to follow strictly to the COVID-19 protocols at all time.

A pop-up Pokémon Center store will also be opening at the ExCeL London event center, where fans will be able to purchase a wide variety of Pokémon products, including a range of items themed around the tournament itself. The Pokémon Center opens on August 17th, the day before the big event, and will remain open until August 21st or while supplies last.

The Pokémon World Championships is a yearly event, where top players from around the world are invited to compete for the title of World Champion. This event was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
