Well, I guess the thing to be actually envious about is that Japan will have an official legal way to read online manga (sorta). Yeah, doing so through the 3DS would be a bother (I find playing games on a 3DS bothersome), but maybe it'll get the ball rolling for other companies to try this.To be honest, I don't see much to be envious about in this as I can't really think of a much worse way to read a book than to scroll through it on a small screen (yes, 3DS is too small for that). Get a tablet or a laptop, or just buy physical copies if you want to take books with you.
They've had those sorts of things for a while now. Actually, there's even international versions of such things. jmanga.com being the one I'm most familiar with. The big difference with this 3DS app though appears to be the number of publishers seemingly willing to support it.
