4kids Decides to Release Uncut Anime

I was just on youtube in which I found this http://www.youtube.com/4kidstv

It is the 4kids youtube channel, but the amazing thing what they have: Yu-Gi-Oh Uncut with subtitles of what it looks like, the entire first season.

After reading their channel's blog it stated that they are also planning on releasing Sonic X Uncut with english subs. It also stated that their Youtube channel is an experiment to see if marketing to anime fans can be profitable. So, if they find out it is profitable, that means...... uncut DVDs and no more bad 4kids dubs!

Wow, so like... hell just froze over I think. Wow. Just wow. It's 'bout fucking time 4kids! I can overlook bad cuts for TV airing if there are uncut dvd releases.
 
Wow. Now this is a change of pace. I'm especially excited about Sonic X, considering their dub of it was an embarrassment. Not even that--it was a disgrace. They mutilated the characters and stories that I loved until they were no longer recognizable. Don't even get me started on their excuse for a musical score. I've never fully forgiven them for their gang rape of Sonic X, but maybe here they can redeem themselves. Maybe.

What's equally shocking about this is the fact that their dub of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's is actually fairly competent (they even let fans vote online for what theme song they wanted). Maybe they've finally managed to extract their heads from their rectal cavities?
 
Oh, yeah, I forgot all about this. I know Sonic X sucks, but I'd love to see it when it's officially subbed.

Ooh, do they still have the license for the Kirby anime? <3

But 4Kids has been doing some cool stuff as of late... I think they made a shout-out to Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged on their website or something like that.
 
4kids is in such a hole I don't think they can afford to pay their editing crew anymore, hence more uncut stuff :p
 
I got the feeling they didn't pay their editors a whole lot to begin with. It sure would explain a lot.
 
Maybe Nintendo will re-hire 4Kids to do dubbing, with all the old voice actors, if this turns out well.

Yes, it did. The Yu-gi-oh and Shaman King uncut dvds. Although it wasn't exactly a success at that point, perhaps as a youtube channel it'll work better.
 
When it comes to swearing and more violence on tv shows, alot of viewers become more interested. I guess theyll do whatever it takes to save there viewers and get there programs back on top.

No way, they were payed well, believe me.

Did you ever see their One Piece edits? I don't even watch One Piece and I see them posted a lot.

You'd have to be paid well to come up with stuff like that.
 
To be honest, who really cares that Sonic X or Dinosaur King is uncut (don't they need Sega's permission as well? I'm sure they want the series to remain cut as they edited their content before they handed things over to 4Kids)

I'm just skeptical because they did such a poor slap in the face job last time and their current programs are all children programs anyways with nothing really to be cut in the first place (save 5D's)

I do. Also, an entire legion of Sonic fans wants to have a word with you. Besides, the cut version of Sonic X can't hardly even be associated with Sonic. I mean, just watch the dub, and all of a sudden "Chaos Control" is the name of Dr. Eggman's base. Rouge is a 50-year-old prostitute. Sonic has a perpetual head cold, and Tails is a girl. Maria was apparently not gunned down on Space Colony ARK, but was rather "taken away", and for some conveniently unexplained reason is never seen again. See what I'm getting at here? So it's really more like we're finally getting Sonic X for the first time than an "uncut" version.

The Yu-Gi-Oh episodes have been up there since before summer, too. Mostly raw-only until recently.

(and for the record, Sonic X sucks pretty hard in any language. Yes, I've seen it in Japanese before. The SatAM series was so much better in every way)

I am of that Legon, I've been a sonic hardcore fan since the first game in the 90s, (buying the comics and cartoons and games since) I haven't seen all of the 4Kids episodes too much, but of the ones I've seen it's basically the same, and even if it has been changed a lot in the dub that I know of, the Anime isn't that much hot stuff. It's standards kids anime stuff, one isn't missing much. (Actually, I like the games story better even though they try to tie everything together in this cartoon)


I guess what I was saying would get me blasphemed out of the Pokemon Anime section too, but it is kind of like watching Pokemon uncut, there isn't really that much a difference as a whole.
