I check the GameFreak website fairly often for reasons of my own, but If you can read Japanese (and therefore not use Google Translator, like me) It's pretty much a goldmine of info.

So does this mean that the next region might be based on an area outside Japan? Those are African animals after all, not that it means anything.

Dammit, I know that no one cares, but I NEED to get my Pokemon to them XD

EDIT: I took out the Japanese, So you have to go to the sauce to read the original blog post.

Most zoos heavily focus on African animals for some reason, I've noticed.

Finally get a damn zebra Pokemon, at least.

OK, something weird is going on in this topic's formatting.

Woo! I've been wondering when a Zebra Pokemon was coming!

Eh? Is this true? I never saw anything about it on any Pokemon infromation sites. (Seribii.net, Bulbanews, Etc.)

It might just be the Engrish, but it just seems like they went to a zoo, to practice drawing new things =S

Although Gen V will undoubtedly come, I'm not sure if this is it..

certain japanese characters break the board. i removed the one that was breaking it. it's fine now.

D: I'm sorry

It's from the gamefreak staff blog

Yes! I want my grass/normal zebra dammit.

Ah, I thought that was just an American thing.

FORMATTING LOOKS WONKY @__@

How is this 5th gen again?
This looks more like a simple trip to the zoo than a 5th gen confirmation, but we'll see.

Well, if that means that it's in development then that's totally cool.

Will I get my goddamned dolphin this time, though?

I'm nearly possitive this has nothing to do with pokemon

I'm in no way going to except this as gen V its just way to early maybe next year

This is so refreshing to hear! I really hope for a tiger pokemon this time! and question: are there ant other rumors going around about new evoulutions, im wondering about pokemon like stantler..

I mentioned nothing about when the 5th gen would begin, I've only given confirmation.

How?

Going to the Zoo to study Animals=Working on new Pokemon
Working on new Pokemon =They'll need to be released in some way.
Released in some way = New Games.
New Games= 5th Gen.

Couldn't they have just gone to the zoo for generic art purposes or a non-Pokemon Gamefreak game? Or a generic art lesson for the graphic designers?

Too early? Dude, Gen V is going to have to start in two years or so if they don't want a long wait between HGSS and a new Pokemon game. It's about time they started working on the new Pokemon designs.

Yeah, they're finally starting to work on the Gen V Pokemon. Of course, we all know they have some extra designs, but I'm sure this blog post means they're actually beginning to crack down on their work. I always suspected they just sent out Sugimori and pals to zoos and aquariums to refine the designs and get ideas for new monsters.

I've been expecting something like this, even with thr remakes, by the end of 2011 the Gen V will have to rear its head or at least some evidence of it. Maybe the reason we have not heard this is that HGSS is too important and Game Freak want to focus on this being their best seller again and not on something that could outshadow it in future.

I have often wondered why they never let fans give ideas, remember the sprites Yousuf made? The zebra, starters, the south American pot creature? Now those could have had potential. I am wondering what kiinda region thse creatres will be based in.

Based on this I expect or assume to come:

Lemur like pokemon
Another big cat pokemon
Girifrig evo? no idea what that could be like
Some tropical fish like pokemon

When someone said they could have went to Zoos for pokemon ideas, I instantly thought of a region like Africa or Jungle like as half the creatures in Zoos come from Africa or jungles like India.
