In the pokemon world, many people are wondering about the next batch of pokemon to come. Will there be new types of pokemon? New number's of forms of a pokemon? Ash's new rival and friend's? Will pikachu ever evolve?
In this thread you can express any feelings you have towards the 5th Generation of Pokemon. ENJOY!

Hello pokemon fans, I just joined the crew today because I could never find a place to talk about the 5th generation.. FINALLY! =] Anyways, hey everyone, friend me!
I would like to say that I believe that this generation may be the last.. does anyone agree? I love pokemon, and the first week that this generation is out I will already memorize all the new pokemon names! I hope they come out with new types of pokemon aswell!

I remember when people said "5th Gen" just before Gen IV appeared, now is popping up more and more now. Maybe this might be the last Gen that new pokemon appear, but hopefully not the end of the games and show because of this. Anyway:

I guess there won't be any new types, we have the right amount already and can't think of any they could add, plus that would mess up games a bit if they did add some new types. New dual types like Psychic/Poison or Fighting/Flying might come up and I'd like.

Maybe new berries will appear too. New berries have been appearing each Gen since Gen III anyway.

Don't know how many pokemon there will be, but hopefully if there is quite an amount, there will be a not so mind numbly long process of getting them all in your national dex. Maybe a few pokemon from pevious Gens will evolve one more stage or have a pre-evolution. Kangaskhan won't probably have a pre evolution because of how it grows up as said in dex entries (sorry for all of you who want a baby kanghaskhan pre evo)

And there will be little to no chance pikachu will evolve.

TR trio will probably as usualy tag along and try to nab the twerps pokemon.

Dawn will become like May most likley. Appearing for a short time here and there in next region, but there might be a new trainer that will tag along with the gang, if its a boy it won't be so good, hopefully as usual it will be a girl.

I won't want Ash to Oak his Sinnoh pokemon and slowly forget they exist like other pokemon he has. I would like it to be like start of Johto and Ash keep his Sinnoh pokemon for next region and use them for a while, then capture pokemon from the new region and use them, but also bring back hism older pokemon from time to time, so all his pokemon get time to shine.

I would like to see Brock go home for a while, then return later on, so we can have a few episodes without Brock. Might make a good change. Say around 3-10 episodes without Brock.

Who knows if they will keep the 8 gym thing and contests, but either way, I would like a slight change to whats been happening. Keep similar aspects of the show and games, but do something different too.

I suspect the fifth generation will be just like the fourth generation: at least 100 new Pokémon, eight gyms, a new coordinator girl, and everything we've come to expect from the show by now (Satoshi's never-ending journey, Pikachu remaining in its current state, Takeshi being Takeshi, Musashi and Kojirou falling all over themselves, etc.). All leading up to the gradual unveiling of the sixth generation four years later.

And I, for one, wouldn't want it any other way.

Because watching the show drive itself into the ground again would be so much fun?

If the 5th gen is not drastically different than what we have now, the show is just going to run in circles for the rest of its run. I say cut the cord this gen while they can. Start over with a clean slate next time.

Jesus, you're becoming more and more like Weedle if you keep this up.

Honestly, it's too soon to be discussing the 5th gen since we're not really finished with the 4th one. You know they'll showcase the Sinnoh battle frontier, and there are several 4th gen Pokémon they haven't showcased.

I think "starting over" for the Generation V series will do the show good, but that really all depends on what they do with the games. What made Hoenn so "new" was that it was the first major change in the show in terms of the cast and the debut of contests and double battles.

If there isn't enough "new" for the Generation V games, then the anime may be "screwed", especially if it's Ash, Brock, and new girl again.

For now, it's really wait and see because there is no "hint" of Generation V and it appears there won't be for sometime to come.

^ I said that about the last generation, and look where we are. :(

The only problem is there's really nowhere Pokemon can go from here. Ash has matured, Brock is same old, and they're just going to bring in a new coordinator girl every 4-5 years.

Granted I liked what they did with May and Dawn, but do we really need to see a third girl brought in to do the same thing yet again?

I disagree with that. Even though one movie hasnt been shown yet, what else is there to occupy us pokemon fans? After playing diamond or pearl when it first came out and beating it, you soon realize that now your at the end of the road for many to come.. I am glad that there will be a fifth generation, I just hope it comes to, and I think the pokemon company should realize that. Their fans are leaving as they have impatience to the long wait for the next generation to come. I believe this generation will be far more superior than the others, yet much to differ then them at the same time.

I and a lot of other people think that Diamond and Pearl has been the best story arc of the anime so far, so I'm pretty happy to look around and see where we are. :D

Anyway, as far as the main series of games go, I'm all for some smaller changes while not straying for the normal eight gyms/evil team formula. A lot more focus on character customization, way more focus on online play because that's where the true replay value is, a more player-friendly way of raisng Pokémon (screw you, EVs and IVs), and much better graphics are what I'm hoping for, and actually somewhat expecting (aside from that last one). But I'm fine waiting a long time; why are people so ready to get new Pokémon? For the length of the entire franchise, ti always feels like we've been looking towards the future too much. I'm actually estatic that this time we're focusing more on what we have instead of what we will in a few years.

...oh, anime. Right. Yeah, I'm content to go with the same old, same old. Damn naysayers have been saying there's nowhere for the anime to go since the very beginning. And really, it's not gonna change whether people moan and whine or not, so I don't really see the point. :D

See, everyone who wants the show to backtrack or reboot or even end after Generation IV is forgetting one very vital piece of information: this show is not written for you. It's written for kids. And not specific kids either, but just whichever kids are into "Pokémon" right now. They don't want an end to the show; they just keep watching until they get interested in something else, and then new kids come along and take their place. The process doesn't allow for a long-running narrative with a conclusive ending, but it guarantees that the show can run for as long as the franchise remains profitable.

I'm okay with the fact that this show and its characters aren't moving towards a predetermined plot point. It entertains me anyway, and in the end, that's all I ask of the show. I like the characters the way they are, even with the knowledge that they'll be in limbo for as long as the show stays on the air. I like the "Pokémon" anime exactly the way it is - I don't need a reboot from the ground up, and I don't need a time skip, and I don't need a massive retooling of the show's premise, because I don't expect it to pander to the whims of people who aren't in its demographic. It's a comfortable show, the kind where you can tune in whenever you want and know that things will be just as you left them.

Do you think pokemon will ever be so old that they create a sequel to the series? A sequel so similar, yet with new attributes.
Truthfully I like that idea it sounds original and fun =]

They're not going to do anything radical, unless the games themselves take a drastic new direction. They'll just do the same thing they did with Diamond and Pearl. And I fully agree with Scott85 and all those agreeing with him.

They need to change it around, twist it so we wouldnt imagine, but you know what i would love most? a pokemon ash loves in the 5th generation that evolves three times and stays that way for a while and when you wouldnt think IT EVOLVES AGAIN! like a strong pokemon that looks like its its last form, that would be AWESOME! any agrees?

I totally agree. But last gen, I said if they do the same old song and dance again they're just going to be driving the show into the ground. I'm glad they proved me wrong to an extent, but they can't do the same EXACT thing again for a 5th time (even in terms of the video games). Well maybe they can if they continue to be a little more creative and put some thought into the overall direction and plot. But we'll see... hopefully D/P isn't just a fluke because of the awesome legends and legendaries.

^Your right, I thought the same thing about D/P if they do same thing as before, it won't be good... but it proves, even if the general layout is the same (a.k.a the gms and contests), it does not have to be the same as before. But I do agree its time for a little change.

I am actually hoping they do another set of chronicles before they start the 5th Gen (Probably not going to happen) or maybe at the start of it. I liked D/P and it would be good to see other trainers like Paul, gary again, but by temselves, doing what they do best.

I still don't see what the 5th gen could do differently.

Paul and Jun likely will be gone at the end of this gen, so unless Ash's next rival is really interesting, its likely to be a downgrade.

Sitting through a third coordinator girl in a row will be very tiring. As said, at least May and Dawn's arcs played out differently so its fine, but they're really going to run out of steam if they try to do Contests yet again with a third female.

Brock...let's not even bother.

And then there's just the next evil team and or Elite 4, assuming they still focus on them.

I really wish they'd wrap up Ash's story at the end of this generation. The show will have over 650 episodes by the end of this saga in addition to about 13 movies, how much longer must this go?

Do you guys really think we'll be following Ash's journey for 20 years?

Don't you ever get tired of repeating yourself in every single post you make?
