Don't you hate it when all of the pretentious assholes from school take something you love and make it some bulls**t trend? I do. To the point I'm feeling ashamed to like it anymore.

I'm getting tired of this trend from this year where all of the snapback wearing tools start bragging about being entitled "90's kids." and start talking about Pokemon like they know everything. They always post their screenshots and videos on twitter about my "gyrados lol" and even looking like damned idiots by changing their names to "Pika" or whatever. Sad part is, now they are knowing quite a bit about this crap. now I just feel behind everyone. And it pisses me off even more after they all kicked me in the face and harass me consistently.

Douchebags kicked me in the dirt, then start putting in everyone's faces on how "90's" they are with their "POKEMON XD SWAG." And among with other stuff I also like. I just feel so ashamed myself to be liking the same stuff that my bullies basically now obsess over. Anyone else know what I'm saying? How do you cope with that?

Okay, um... Firstly, tell an adult about the harassment. Nobody ever seems to listen to that... And once that's taken care of? Rub your own little quirks of Pokémon expertise in their FACE!!! For example: They say they have 20 Revives? You say you have 50 Revival Herbs! (Which, hopefully, in truth you do have or at least don't have your DS on hand) I think that might make them think, "Hey, we stink at this stuff! We should go play Mario because that's a 90's game too! We'll dress up like plumbers and princesses!" For the first part, I HIGHLY STRESS to tell an adult you can trust FIRST, so you don't accidentally get face kicked while bragging.

Oh, and PS: Pokémon XD isn't even from the 90's, rub that bit in their faces too.

I feel the same way every time I go on a Pokemon forum. I just ignore them, or point out they're being so annoying but then I get in trouble from mods who say I'm being to mean. Granted, I've been seeing this less on Pokemon forums so I would recommend just waiting it out.

Wow... there are plenty of idiots at my school, and I never have seen any of them act like that. I was born when the 90's ended, I didn't get into Pokemon until Gen V, and I bet that I know a lot more about Pokemon than any of them do.

I bet they don't even know what the stats mean.

To be fair, based on my experience with bullies, telling an adult sadly doesn't do much. They tended to either do nothing or getting them involved just made the problem worse for me. I agree that kids should do that, but I'm not surprised when they don't for a lot of reasons.

Anyway, I've dealt with situations like that before. People following me around making fun of me for liking Pokemon happened all the time in my last couple of years of elementary school. My way of dealing with it was just diving into Pokemon when I got home. At home, people wouldn't be bothering me about what I liked, for the most part at least, so it was a safety zone and I could just lose myself in playing the games or watching the show. That way, I could forget about the bullies for awhile and just relax with something I truly enjoyed and still enjoy to this day.

I've noticed that most kids claiming to be "90s kids" were born in the 90s... I was born in the 80s, and grew up in the 90s. Hence, I am a 90s kid.

Anyway, ignore the little turds. I've noticed every generation gets a little crazy about their nostalgia... so just let them think they're being hilarious, playing with their "Gyarados lol" and then they'll put the Gameboy down and pick something else to yolo about.

Me too, partly why I hate them. :| (I'm ~00s kid~~)

Pokemon was around in the US at the very end of the 90's anyway ('98-99), unless you liked/knew about Capumon or when R/G first came out in Japan ('96), which I completely doubt.

(omfg this post makes me sound like a massive snob)

Although I generally agree with this. But not this time.

I was born in '91. Pokemon was started its airing in my country in '98*. Ash and most of us in my country like me were peers. I believe '87 - '92 span is pertty accurate instead of using decades. We felt like we were Ash and he had to win the league when the show came up at first, didn't we?..
*(The show was banned in '01 after a kid killed himself by jumping from 7th floor to the ground while yelling 'Pikachuuu'. It was a huge dissapointment for me and my fellows.)
You're right, I agree. My sister was born in 92 and though she's not a fan anymore, we used to play Yellow and Blue together. I suppose my comment should have been more directed at those kids who can barely remember (or can't remember) the 90s, like how I have no recollection of the 80s.
