Say what you want about Pokémon Horizons, but you can’t deny that it utilizes their supporting cast cleverly. Who ever thought we’d get an episode that deals with the kids’ doppelgängers who seemed like one note characters back in the Terastal Debut arc? Out of the trio, Dash is the one in the spotlight as she did appear back in episode 95 when Exceed was demonstrating the Strong Sphere for the first time.

While Dash is supposed to be Dot’s doppelgänger, she’s acting more like the early version of Liko with her lack of confidence, and self-doubt that her friends will leave her behind. The major difference between Liko and Dash though is that Liko gains confidence in her skills and prowess as she keeps going on adventures and meets her closest friends. Dash on the other has close friends, but still lacks confidence. Also, Liko will definitely never rely on outside power like Strong Spheres to attain more power.and

The battle between the two girls was honestly not that great, because it was an obvious win for Liko. It does serve a major purpose however, in that someone finally understands the negative aspects of Strong Spheres. I think the only other time someone was convinced it was bad was Stunner Fisk the Stunfisk streamer. I’m glad that the Naranja Academy students finally see why it’s bad, and hopefully it could be a major step to get it discontinued for good. It’s a small step, but a powerful one.

I get that people might be confused on why the Rising Volt Tacklers, especially the kids, are roaming around the Academy with ease despite them being labelled as villains publicly, but remember that Liko and her friends saved the school from an Explorers attack, so they are indebted to them in a way. The only true sign of the negative publicity is that Iono has to hide the airship and the adult members in Levincia. I really liked Clavell’s quote about how people are swayed by emotions and not with logic, because it definitely applies towards real life issues as well.

My only gripe about this episode is how they so nonchalantly revealed that the Terastal Course can be retaken. It’s like all that drama about Liko failing the course feels like it’s meaningless now…maybe that’s just me… Also, I do wonder what’s up with the running gag of Pawmi wanting more food? Did the Tatsugiri steal it? Anyways, let me know your thoughts on the episode!

Although this episode was very necessary, I don't know about having this episode if Horizons truly is ending in the near future. They just can't afford this if there's like 10-15 episodes left. Also, the title is kinda over the top that it's kinda laughable. It would've been better if the writers have choreographed at least a competitive battle, like a 70/30 ratio of Liko dominating rather than Dash not landing any moves. It made it seem like Niko and Rob lied to Dash's face because there wasn't an instance where she's battling well. Overall, necessary episode but idk if we should have this episode in an arc/series that is about to end.
