I (and I'm sure other members) like to use Shoddy Battle both for testing out teams, and for getting quick battles within sets of rules (you can't play only UU on Wi-Fi, for example). I think it would be even better if we could play against people we know, and get to meet others, on these forums, instead of playing against people you have little chance of knowing on Smogon.
I don't know much about Shoddy servers, but if one can be run from two different places at the same time, we could even have it run by users, instead of taking up bandwidth on the Bulbagarden server. If it was run by volunteer users, they would get the perk of the server always being up when they want to use it, and everyone else would generally get more server space if more people are using it, because of the proportional number of people on running the server.
So, should Bulbagarden get a Shoddy server.

I like this idea. I recently started on Shoddy, and would like to battle people from Bulbagarden.

I'm addicted to Shoddy, but the chat there is awful.

Racism, Bieber Fever and lots of profanity. About 20 people get suspended every day.

That's why I agree to this.

What aeOHai said. The Smogon server is WAAAAY too profane for my taste. A BMGf server would really be nice; if I saw one, I'd join immediately.

Smogon's tiers are the most used, couldn't we just use them?

Who is in charge
If my idea of more than one host works, we could just use the volunteers hosting the server to be in charge.

IPGL
Either IPGL could have a forked league that uses Shoddy, or it just isn't part of it.

Usage
From the response this thread's gotten, the people that are annoyed by the chat on Smogon's server, as well as anyone who wants to be able to battle against people they know from the forums, rather than just random people off Smogon.

And if we do, get chat mods. More than one. It seems like theres only 1 mod on Smogon, and he isn't that good.

I had brought this up with evkl once and what he said was it would be too much work maintaining it. I feel that it would be good for someone who is good at tech to create the server and then hand out mod position there to the most active users in the Battle Strategy Section since thats the place where we discuss stuff like that.
So I am pretty sure evkl has an idea of who I am reffering to since those are the people are the ones who will be active there mostly.
Another thing, About the tiers, we should use the Smogon tiers since thats universally accepted.
Of the different ladders, I suggest:
Ubers
OU
UU
NU
Little Cup
and IPGL (if needed?)

and a teir only assesable if your record is horrible.

I really don't care whether there will be a server or not because I'll probably still go on Smogon. Most kids here refuse to battle on Smogon because they can't get on top of the ladder or there are too many experienced players. Sure some can hold their own and are good but I think sticking to IRC channels or using Smogons server is better.

You can use any Pokémon from a lower tier in a tier, so Ubers is the mixed tier.

I don't know much about the actual server side, but if it can be run by more than one person, we could have a group of volunteers. That way, they'd get the perk of always having a server on when they want, and if a regular user can't get online, it would make them think of being one of those hosts as well.

Most likely Smogon's, but that's up to people higher up in Bulbagarden to decide.

Or maybe...you know you could go on Smogon's forums and ask them if they have any tips or can actually tell you how to do it?

I'd be willing to have Bulbagarden support this if somebody's willing to host it and it gets reasonably good activity. Judging by this thread, people seem interested. If somebody can host it/wants to host it, please PM me and we can sort out some details.
