Not sure if anybody has noticed it before, but I see no mention of it on Bulbapedia nor Wikipedia...

If you have heard the full version of « Type: Wild! » before, you will know that it starts with a melody being played on (I think) a harmonica, before it switches to the rock part.

Well, I found out (by way of conincidence and iTunes' randomness) that that melody is from...

« Kaze to Isshoni » (« 風といっしょに »)!

More specifically, it comes from the ending part of the chorus, which can be heard early in the song, at around 3 minutes into it, and towards the end.

Very interesting find if you ask me, but again, someone else could have noticed it before me...

I did. I found it rather weird and random.

Random trivia: Kobayashi Sachiko (小林幸子) has performed three theme songs for Pokémon, each time under a different name:
1. 風といっしょに as 小林幸子
2. ポケモン音頭 as ガルーラ小林
3. ポケットにファンタジー as さち
