YOU MUST READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST ON THIS THREAD:
For the moment this can stay open, provided it conforms to the same rules as our RSEmake thread:

http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/showthread.php?t=92304

Essentially, no discussion/arguing/flaming regarding the viability of said remakes, and only discussion of features/etc. If this thread deteriorates into arguing (as remake threads are prone to do, based on past history), it will just be closed.

As you all know, there have been two remakes of Pokemon games so far, with remakes of RGBY in Gen III, and remakes of GSC in Gen IV. Due to that, it's likely that there will be RSE remakes in Gen V.

However, have you ever given thought to another RGBY remake for the 3DS? Seeing as this year is the 15th anniversary year, and as Nintendo didn't celebrate it, they could make it up for it by doing RGBY remakes for the 3DS, so that both old and new fans of the series get to the play the very first games in 3D.

Now, if you think I'm fussing too much over nothing, there could be a Yellow remake instead, as FRLG are still relatively new, but a Yellow remake would be acceptable. If you ask me, I'd prefer a Yellow remake. Which would you prefer; an RGBY remake overall, or just a Yellow remake?

Also, leave ideas for the remake.

My ideas:

  • Just like Yellow, all three starters are availible.
  • Battles would be full 3D.
  • All locations would be on a 3D perspective, like that AR cheat for HGSS.
  • The Sevii Islands would come back.
  • Team Rocket's plans would be more expanded.

I'd say it's way too early for gen I remakes, if they ever appear. Maybe in like Generation VII or VIII or something we can have FireyFireRed and LeafyLeafGreen, but not yet. I'd prefer a remake to be a remake of Red and Blue, I never liked Yellow.

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

Gen VII or VIII? No way, that's way too far away. They wouldn't make remakes of Pokemon RGBY 23 - 31 years after their original release, because RGBY would've been over 25 years old by then.

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

I, however, think that it would work, if there were to be a Yellow remake in Gen. VI or VII. Since I can't really picture Gen. IV remakes in Gen. VI, so Yellow would work for VI or VII. Even though by then RGBY would be very old by then, they still make Pac-Man remakes, right?

Yes, but at least Pac-Man is more pleasing to the eyes compared to RGBY. Pac-Man will likely last another decade or two, but Pac-Man is about the same quality as NES games, and they're just about fine, whereas GB games, which have worse quality, will eventually get less popular.

Also, you can't buy GBA games in shops anymore, so it would be smart to remake RGBY again along with RSE.

Actually, what would you guys think of an RGBY remake for the Wii?

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

Meh. I don't want any more remakes of any Pokémon game unless actual effort is put into them. Also, I'd rather see the franchise go further in the established timeline instead of stagnating itself over and over.

A game set in Kanto after the GSC/HGSS period would be fine, though. Like, I don't know, set in the same period as Black/White. I think it's high time GameFreak tries new things even with old locations, even if it might be the same at its core.

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

For everyone that wants a remake, even if you want it in many years time, what features do you want?

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

IDK what really, but Pokemon ThunderYellow or WaterJapaneseBlue ftw!

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

Well I had enough of Kanto in my opinion. I have got sick and tired of seeing Kanto in every gen and especially the music and pokemon there... I think we had enough of Kanto. Since there will possibly be a RSE ramake, in the future gens I would like to see a DP remake. AdamentDiamond and LustrousPearl ftw.

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

I'm pretty much have to go with the "no" route on this. While it is true that it would be fitting to re-release Red and Blue/Green on the 3DS Virtual Console because of the anniversary thing, but another remake would probably not happen because of FireRed and LeafGreen already occupying the position of the obligatory remakes.

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

I don't want a remake necessarily. I want a somewhat BW style linear game that goes into what happens between the 3 years of RBGYFrLG and GSCHgSs and maybe a storyline involving the volcano erupting. Or an antagonistic side to RBGYFrLg with us being the villain.

Nah, TimeyDiamond and SpaceyPearl sound better.

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

The only way I'd like this is if Kanto/Johto/Hoenn are together in one game.

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

I think it would be cool if they made a new game set in Kanto...
But I think I would be perfectly fine with a Yellow remake, as long as they do it well

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

I've pondered over this for a while now. It seems unlikely that they'd keep going back in time though.

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

Having never played Yellow I think it would be cool if that was remade with new graphics and what not.

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

Considering FR was my first Pokemon game, I'd like a remake... just not right now. I'm kind of sick of Kanto after seeing it in every generation; it needs a break. Maybe in Gen VI.

I'd prefer RGB as a whole. I loved having Pikachu follow you in Yellow... but once I get far enough through the game, I just can't play it anymore without complaining every hour about how terrible a non-evolving Pikachu is, especially since the Light Ball didn't exist yet. Just throw in the walking Pokemon feature and I'd be perfectly fine with having RGB over Yellow.

Not to mention, pretty much the main reason Yellow was made was to tie in with the anime, the first season specifically. The anime was a big introduction to Pokemon as a whole to a lot of people, so it worked then. What kid is going to care about references to the first season if Yellow is remade in around 9 years? (Assuming the remakes are for Gen VI.)

Heck, one time at least a year ago, I met this kid at a birthday party that was probably around 8 or 9. He claimed to be a big Pokemon fan. I showed him the first theme. His reactions? "... Which one is this again? I thought Ash had a different hat."

In short, I can see them just going with another RGB remake.

As for not celebrating the 15th anniversary, they did... just in a minor way. They had Charizard/Blastoise/Venusaur C-gear skins and a Kanto starter Pokedex skin for Japanese BW around the time of it.

For features, I can see Silver getting a cameo somewhere in the Sevii Islands because of that Rocket that said Giovanni's kid had red hair.

Plus, Silver is confirmed to be Giovanni's son in HGSS, and he is his son in the manga. I think Ariana should appear as Silver's mum, too.

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

Personally I don't want a RBGY remake at all. What I do want is a new journey with a differnet plot line, but still in Kanto.

Re: A Further RGBY Remake?

Maybe instead of remaking RGB again, they could just remake Yellow.
