I've been on and off Bulbapedia recently, and there are quite a few small, incremental edits that I'd like to make, but can't because the page is blocked. I'm talking really small edits, like edits that would normally be marked as minor. Things like spelling correction and marking pages as stubs.
What I'm proposing is a class of users called "gnomes". Based off the definition of WikiGnomes, these users are people who normally make very small edits to pages, simply to help beautify them and correct grammar. They would be the exact same as normal users on Bulbapedia, except with the privilege of being able to edit any main-namespace page, protected or unprotected.
This would obviously be a closed class of users; it would have to be on an application and approval basis, as if it were open, people would be able to abuse this to make much larger and more destructive edits than gnomes would normally make. The users of this class would have to prove that they are not troublemakers, and are only here to help beautify the 'pedia.
What do you think?
