8:45 AM.
Misty’s blue-green eyes fluttered open. Another day in the gym; another step to becoming a Water Pokémon master – Or rather, mistress.
Silly, me, it’s Sunday! No gym battles on Sunday…
…
I wonder how Ash is doing
A smile broke across her face as she visualized the messed up black hair, and that broad grin that never seemed to leave the strong, yet kind face. Suddenly, she felt wide awake.
“OI MIST, I HAVE A PHOTOSHOOT IN 20, I HAVE TO GET DOLLED UP QUICK, SO GET YOURSELF OUT OF BED AND FIND ME MY HAIR CL- NEVER MIND, I FOUND THEM”
Misty rolled her eyes.
“Oh Daisy, what am I gonna do with you?” She muttered as she dragged her once energized body out of bed. Her feet felt around the ground for her slippers.
“Ow”
Misty cursed silently as she stubbed her toe on some damn…Thing. Looking around for the cursed object, and ignoring her hunt for the slippers, she prowled around on the ground, seeking vengeance. She pushed the slippers away from her sight, and messed up her already messy floor. Finally, she found a fork on the ground.
What the…
“A fork?” She murmured to herself, obviously confused as she turned the silverware in her hands, before throwing it on the floor again.
“Now, where are those slippers…"
Step.
“Ow”

Misty dug into the veggie burger she made. Man, she really need to watch her weight, she’s been eating waaaay too much chocolate than good for her.
Doesn’t Ash like burgers? Cheese burgers? Yeah, he always says that he’s dying for one…And May also…
Misty chewed slowly, her brows knitted in deep concentration as she remembered the Brunette that saved her life. The beautiful Brunette May. Misty had nothing against her, really, except for the slight pangs of betrayal she got when Ash spoke of her. Overall, she found May to be sweet. It was hard to dislike someone like her, thought it was quite un-nerving seeing her stand so close to him. Misty sighed. She couldn’t get over her feelings for Ash. Her rather elementary feelings.
She looked down, suddenly feeling disgusted with herself. Get a grip girl, it’s been ages since you’ve seen him.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
Gah, that clock was getting annoying. Constantly reminding her that time was going by, constantly letting her drift away from him. She couldn’t even contact regularly him…He’s always on the road, staying at a Pokémon center for a few days, then moving again. She rubbed her eyes again, and grabbed her red towel, ready to do some training.
Red…
May. She wore red. It suited her nicely. So passionate…
Who would that passion be directed to?
She already knew the answer.
Ash.
That’s who.
She unclenched her fists and felt her lip bleed. She blinked, surprised at the force she put into the bite…She didn’t even realize it. She sucked on her bottom lip, feeling the metallic taste of blood mingle with her taste buds. She sighed.
Maybe…I should take a break today.

Misty was next to Ash, she smiled at him. He smile briefly at her, the turned his attention to the girl next to him.
The way she looked at him, those soft eyes…
The way he looked at her, worried…
The smiles they exchanged
The similarities they shared
Those looks…
Those infuriating…
“WOAH” Misty fell out of her floatie, and into the pool with a rather big splash.
“Oh COME ON” she whined as she emerged from the water.
Ugh, did I doze off or what?
She pinched the bridge of her nose and climbed out of the pool. As she did so, she heard a familiar voice call out from the entrance.
“Knock knock!”
“Who’s there”, She responded playfully, her mood changed instantly.
“Local handyman, Tracey; at your service!”
Misty laughed.
“Yeah yeah, what brings you here now?”
“Oh, you know…This and that. Mainly came over to see how’s everything going” He grinned and rubbed the back of his head.
“Everything’s great! So…You wanna talk about some things?” Her straight forwardness startled them both.
“Wai...Wha…W-well, I guess…If you want” He stammered. He totally did not expect that.
Ah...What do I say now?! Misty internally panicked, but smiled forcefully: trying to make it seem as If she knew what she was doing.
She didn’t fool anybody.
“So…” She started. After what seem for ever, he responded.
“..Sooooo…” He just let his ‘so’ draw on for much longer. Clearly not the response she was hoping for.
“…Wanna sit down and have a cup of tea?” She suggested with a light shrug of her shoulder.
“Eh? Sure, I guess. I havta get back soon though. Just help me put these boxes down..”
Misty huffed.
“Do it yourself, I can’t get my beautiful, soft hands roughened!”
Tracey laughed uncertainly.
“Right…” He mumbled, tripping slightly as he followed her into the living area.
---
“SowhatdoyouthinkaboutMay?” The tomboyish mermaid set down the tea cup with a light blush on her face.
“Woah, slow down; what did you say?”
She sighed. Sheesh, why do I have to keep on repeating myself..
“I SAID: SO WHAT. DO YOU. THINK ABOUT. MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY?!?!”
“…You didn’t have to sh-“
“ANSWER THE QUESTION”
Tracey sweat dropped as he feared for is life, putting up the mask of an uncertain smile as he thought: What have I got into…Misty looks…5 times bigger than me with mad…Glowing eyes…Oh Arceus help me…
He swallowed and proceeded to answer.
“May? The cute brunette with the red bandana thingo? Oh, she’s nice.”
Misty winced at the ‘cute’ part, though the answer wasn’t anything less than she expected.
In the brief silence, the clock ‘ticked’ and ‘tocked’ loudly. Tracey feigned interest in canary yellow sofa, paying particular attention to the small holes. The odd splash from the pool didn’t help the rather awkward silence, instead, it some how made it even more uncomfortable. Misty’s grip around the beige mug tightened. She made a soft, almost painful sound. Tracey looked up, concern evident in his eyes.
“Yeah, she’s nice…” She finally sighed, loosening her grip on the mug.
Tracey smiled, relieved that his friend was okay…Until he saw her look up.
Tears.
“M-Misty!? What’s wrong?” Desperation filled the words he spoke. Abandoning the untouched tea cup, he hands firmly on her upper arms. When she didn’t answer and looked away, he shook her softly.
“I-it’s nothing. L-let go…” Her voice cracked.
“Don’t take me for a fool; what happened? What did May do? Did she hurt you? What did she say?”
Misty shook her head harshly, rejecting the continuous questioning and accusations. The silence made him more agitated.
“DAMMIT, MISTY. TELL ME!” he yelled.
“SHE FREAKING TOOK ASH FROM ME. THERE. I SAID IT. HAPPY!?” She screeched right back. His eyes widened. After what seemed like a decade of silence, she continued in rasping breaths.
She broke.
“DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO REACH HIM? AND WHEN I DO, I ALWAYS SEE HER, NEXT TO HIM. THEIR BODIES BRUSHING AGAINST EACH OTHER AS THEY BOTH WAIT TURNS TO TALK TO ME.” She took a shuddering breath.
“IT’S ALWAYS ‘OH MISTY GUESS WHAT ASH DID!’” The girl mockingly mimicked May’s high, sweet voice.
“THEN IT’S ALWAYS ASH GOING ‘NAH, MAY DID THIS. BLAH BLAH BLAH. SHE WAS GREAT’ THEN THEY GO ON COMPLIMENTING EACH OTHER. THEY’RE SO IN SYNC. IT MAKES ME WANT TO STRANGLE THEM BOTH. IT. MAKES. ME. SICK.” Misty broke down. Tears cascading down her face and she wrapped her arms around herself.
Realisation tore through him. Her words were true, they did always seem together, sometimes he found them together with the same species of Pokémon they owned…
“AND AND” Her sharp voice brought him back to reality.
“THE WORST THING…IS..IS THAT I CAN’T…hate her…” She whispered the last the words.
The sudden change from ear splitting loud to to whisper soft made Tracey go cold. Why? He didn't know.
She flinched, her body trembled and suddenly, she took a step forward and gestured to herself sharply with a hand.
“DO YOU HOW THAT AGGRIVATES ME? I WANT TO HATE HER. BUT I CAN’T. I CAN’T HATE THAT GORGEOUS FACE OF HERS. THAT HAIR THAT DOESN’T SEEM TO NEED TO BRUSHED. SHE EATS SO DAMN MUCH YET SHE REMAINS SO DAMN SLIM.” Misty drew in a breath then looked down. Prodding her chest with a finger, she clenched her teeth.
“HER BODY…HER BREASTS ARE BIGGER THAN MINE. AND I’M OLDER THAN HER. I FIND MYSELF COMPAIRING MYSELF TO HER ALMOST EVERY NIGHT. I’M TRYING TO FREAKING LOSE WEIGHT JUST TO MATCH UP TO HER” Misty trembled violently from her outburst, then collapsed.
Tracey just stood there, soaking everything he heard in. A tsunami of emotions wracked his body and mind. It was true, how Ash and May seemed so compatible. They seemed to always be smiling at each other, cheering each other on. The only time he had seen them fight was when he got into an extremely deadly duel to the death between them…All over who gets the last slice of pizza. They ended up sharing and exchanging apologies.
It was heart breaking…Seeing someone as strong as Misty break down. He couldn’t stand any of his friends getting hurt like that. After a few moments of intelligible thoughts, he took a few steps towards her and hugged her on instinct.
“It’ll be ok…” He said, though he didn’t really feel like it would. Though, it seemed like the right move, as she instantly clung onto him.
“I...I met him fi-first…I…Thought I h-had a chance..” She hiccupped.
Tracey’s eyes softened, and pulled back to hand her a handkerchief. Misty stared at it, then looked away.
“I…Don’t want your pity” She sniffed. Then after a second of better judgment, she took it anyway.
Tracey opened his mouth to say something, then realized something important.
“..CRAP! Professor Oak is gonna KILL me! I’m SO late…”
Misty sighed and nodded. Her heart sank.
“You better get going, I’ll be fine”
He frowned. “You sure?”
“Yeah, now get outta here. I’m stronger than you think”
He nodded, Misty was no doubt one of the strongest people he knew. “If you need anything just call, m’kay? I don’t want you crying yourself to sleep”
She laughed. “Yeah, sure. I'll return the handkerchief to you tomorrow, kay?”
With that, he left.
As she heard the door close, she stood up and smiled brightly.
"I'll...Be ok. I know it."

Misty went limp. Her body gave the occasional jerk, as she drifted away on the damp pillow...

A quick one shot I was working on. It sprung from another one I was working on, the concepts are similar..But this is more like a short prequel to the said oneshot. Apologies for any..Mistakes/Grammar/Punctuation issues. I did it rather quickly.
