Ok well this is my first fic, so bare with me if it takes a while to get a chapter up. Also its rated teen because their will be a few violent moments in the story.
This story takes place 490 years before Red and Blue, this is before any of the machines that the World of Pokemon has today were invented.
Also I plan for their to be a second story after this as well, you'll understand later on why.

Prologue

Artemis sat at the base of the mountain, pondering over what he wanted to do. He wanted to be a ruler of the world, he wanted power beyond all might, but nothing could grant these wishes for him. As these thoughts ran through his mind a bright shimmer crossed the sky.

“A shooting star!” Artemis exclaimed to himself.

As he watched the star cross the sky, it came closer and closer to Earth, and then it crashed into the mountainside, creating a small cave. As he stared into the mountainside a thought came to him; shooting stars grant wishes, so can’t one that has landed grant a wish as well? Now he knew what he was after, this shooting star would be his ticket to glory and freedom, he would become the ruler of the world; all he needed to do was make that wish.

He whistled loudly into the distance and was answered by a roar as a red creature flew to him; the large draconic Fire Monster came down from the mountaintop answering Artemis’s call, casting a large shadow over its master. The young man climbed onto the beast’s back and it took off towards the cave of the shooting star, it didn’t take long with the power of the beast at his will he could reach hard to get to places at will. Within minutes he was at the cave entrance, he lowered himself off of the Fire Monster’s back and walked into the dimly lit cave.

As he walked in the Fire Monster followed him cautiously, nervous at what adversaries could be living in here. But as they got closer to the end of the cave they came to a large room with little pink fairy-like creatures dancing around a large rock that seemed to be glowing. He walked over to the rock, the pink fairies giving distance between themselves and the man with the Fire Monster. But as he drew closer to the rock the fairies became irritated and started attacking him, but they were no match for the Fire Monster who quickly dispatched them.
Artemis smiled nothing could beat him soon, and as he drew closer to the large glowing rock a much large pink fairy sent blasts of electricity at the Fire Monster injuring it greatly. The pink fairy then came at Artemis, eyes now glowing a bright blue colour, wiggling its finger at the man. As the fairy wiggled its finger it glowed with a bright light, and then strong blasts of energy rained down from the heavens aimed at Artemis, he lowered his head and ran out of the cave followed by the Fire Monster, who had its wings outstretched ready for flight, Artemis jumped on its back and they escaped the Judgement of the heavens.

As he flew away from the shooting star cave he started thinking of how he could make his wish come true, and take whatever lay in that rock that could grant his wishes. And then after that he could become the most powerful man the world has ever seen.

Chapter 1: The Adventure

Jona stared out her window at large mountains just beyond the borders of her village. Dreadful tales were told of the mountains, people going missing and powerful magical creatures living inside the caves. Some travellers told stories of winged beasts that breathed fire and large boulders that came to life; the mountains were a dangerous place for people. A reflection of herself was shown in the mirror. She moved some strands of her long, curly, dark brown hair out of her face and stared into her own pale green eyes. She hated the way she looked, her elfin-like feature didn’t suit her olive skin, it irritated her every time she looked at her reflection. She tore her eyes away from her reflection and started to stare into the clouds of the bright blue sky. As Jona continued staring out the window a small group of the ‘Original Ones’ flew by. Jona sighed at the sight of them; these cute little creatures were becoming rarer and rarer.

“It’s a really shame,” said Jona to the small orange creature lying on her bed, “they are rather wonderful little things.”

Kram her personal pet Head Holder opened his eyes to look at her lazily. He had dull orange coloured fur with a cream coloured beak and a small tuft of hair poking out the top of his head.

“Kwaa,” yawned Kram, then he rolled over back into sleep.

“Haha, always a source of amusement aren’t you Kram,” came a voice from behind Jona.

Jona turned around to find a tall boy leaning against the wall in her room. He had short black hair, and a rather round face. His eyes were a deep blue, and had a dark shadow underneath them from lack of sleep. The stubble on his face was a different colour to the hair on his head, it was deep red colour. He wore a large smile upon his face, showing his white teeth.

“Vark!” cried Jona shocked, “when did you come in?”

Vark Ents chuckled to himself, “about a minute ago, it was quite amusing listening to you talking to yourself.”

“Oh shut it,” pouted Jona, “what do you want anyway?”

“Uncle Si said he would take us exploring!” said Vark excitedly.

Jona’s mood immediately lightened at the idea of exploring, Vark’s Uncle Si loved to take them for little trips outside of their village. He usually didn’t take them too far from the village, just to places like the Squishy Forest or the cave dug out by the odd Ground Dwellers, places not too far away from Pewter Village.

“Where will he take us,” asked Jona cheerfully.

“The mountain the moon touches in the morning,” said Vark excitedly, “he said he saw a shooting star land there.”

Mixed emotions flooded through Jona, the thought of the adventure and a shooting star were so exciting she couldn’t help but want to go, but the stories of the mountains terrified her like the other kids in the village.

“A shooting star,” said Jona to herself, “I wonder if I could make a wish?”

“Oh those are just fairy tales,” said Vark teasingly.

“Shut up,” Jona said annoyed, Vark always managed to find some way of annoying her.

“What?” asked Vark cheekily, it didn’t take much effort to wind Jona up, “anyway Uncle Si says he wants to check if the rock caused any damage to the wildlife nearby.”

“Oh, ok,” said Jona, “so when do we leave?”

“Tomorrow hopefully,” said Vark, “anyways I came over here to tell you, now I’d better go get ready, see ya tomorrow.”

He then turned and walked out the door.

“Bye!” called Jona.

Vark turned around and looked at her; he smiled and waved and then continued down the hallway and out the front door.

“Okay Kram, we better start getting ready,” Jona told the small creature.

Loud fake snores came from Kram’s direction.

“Okay I’ll start getting ready myself then,” grumbled Jona, “but don’t expect any treats.”

The snores suddenly stopped and Kram jumped up and moved over to help Jona get ready.

“Your stomach does all the thinking doesn’t it?” said Jona ruffling the little tuft of hairs on Kram’s podgy head.

“Psar!” he replied happily.

***

The next morning Jona woke up to find a heavy lump on her stomach. She looked over the sheets to find Kram snoring loudly.

“Get off,” said Jona, knocking the orange creature off her lap.
Kram fell off the bed with a thump, opening his eyes only to give Jona a death stare.

“You’ll get over it,” said Jona jumping out of bed, “once you’ve had breakfast.”

Kram sat bolt up, then jumped to his feet and waddled out the door for breakfast. Jona jumped out of bed and followed her little friend into the kitchen. She found her father in the kitchen with a large Angry Beast carcass on the table, and her mother cooking a small portion on the fire.

“Mornin’,” said her father in his deep, gruff voice, “you two leavin’ today?”

He pointed at Kram while he spoke, who currently had his empty food bowl stuck on his head.

“Yes dad,” said Jona, knowing her father wanted her out of the house so he could have some alone time with her mother, “I’ll be out of the house for about two to three days according to Vark.”

“Good, good,” said her father, “when you leave, if you hear any noises, don’t go comin’ back inside, we’re fine.”

“Dear, I’m not that loud,” said Jona’s mother.

Jona‘s face went red as her parents continued talking.

“Stop. Please stop,” Jona said to her parents, “you’re so embarrassing.”

“Sorry honey,” said her mother, “but it’s a natural part of life, and you’re father’s so irresisitible”

“Stop, stop that’s enough,” cried Jona, “please don’t go any further.”
“Sorry hun,” said her mother again.

A loud crash came from behind Jona; she quickly turned to find Kram on the floor with his food bowl still stuck to his head. She sighed with relief, her father hated Kram and this would surely distract him from his current thoughts.

“Help ya bloody pet will ya?” said Jona’s father to her, “then have yer breakfast and get outta here, Vark’s already come round lookin fer ya.”

Jona ran over to Kram and pulled bowl off of his head, then quickly started eating her breakfast. Once she’d finished her food she grabbed her stuff, said good bye to her parents and ran out the door to go looking for Vark.

After a quick search of the village Jona found Vark standing at the edge of the village gate, he had a large backpack at his feet and was holding his two special Aprikorn capsules he had made an to hold his pets.

“So I see you’ve brought Grath and Raider,” said Jona walking over to where Vark was standing.

“Haha yeah,” said Vark patting the Aprikorn capsules in his hand, “I thought it might be a good idea in case we get in any trouble.”

Aprikorn shells have the special power to hold many different forms of energy, and somehow Vark had managed to create a capsule from the Aprikorn that could convert magical creatures into energy for the Aprikorns to hold, although he wouldn’t tell anyone how he managed to do it, not even Jona.

“Very good idea,” said a deep voice behind Jona.

She turned around to find Vark’s Uncle Simon or Si for short. He was a tall muscular man, with short dark brown hair. He wore a wide brimmed hat that cast a shadow across most of his upper face, making it hard to see anything above his thick moustache covered upper lip.

“Some of the creatures along the path may be hungry for our flesh,” said Si, “and we need all the help we can get when a wild Nido-, urr sorry, Spike Monster gets hungry.”

Jona shuddered, although Spike Monsters were only about a metre high they were incredibly dangerous. There whole body were covered in sharp spikes, and some of those spikes even secreted a deadly poison which could kill a man within ten minutes. Commonly the males were the most aggressive and there had even been a few cases where a rogue male had entered the village and eaten a few people.

“Okay, since we’re ready we’d better get going,” announced Uncle Si, “and Jona can you please keep an eye on your little friend.”

He pointed at Kram who was now digging his way through Vark’s backpack looking for food.

“Kram!” cried Jona, “get out of there!”

She ran over and pulled Kram out of Vark’s bag, the little head holder clung to the sides of the bag trying to find the scent he smelt. Jona tugged harder and harder till Kram finally gave up, and came out of the bag with one of Vark’s socks in his mouth. Jona grabbed the sock out of Kram’s mouth and gave it to Vark.

“Sorry,” she said guiltily.

“Oh it doesn’t matter,” he laughed, “it’s only a sock, and some other possible contents of my bag. But it doesn’t matter really.”

He gave her a quick smile and then slung his backpack over his shoulder.

“Ready now?” asked Si impatiently.

“Yes,” replied Jona and Vark guiltily.

“Well let’s get going then,” and then Si turned around and walked out the village gate.

Jona and Vark looked at each other quickly and then followed Si out the gate.

Chapter 2: Uncle Si’s Secret

The small group of people travelled along a long woodland shrouded path for about two long and exhausting hours until they came to the foothills of the Mountains touched by the moon.
“I think it’s time for a break,” said Si sitting down on a fallen log, “you two look a bit tired.”
Jona and Vark dropped to the ground as soon as Si said the word break, behind them Kram collapsed onto his stomach. The small area Si had chosen to sit by was on the edge of a steep cliff edge that led into a deep valley full of trees. The grass was soft and comfortable as Jona lay on her back staring into the atmosphere above her. A small flock of Flying Squeakers flew above them as they lay beneath the trees shadows.

“You two have done very well,” said Si in his usual gruff voice, “I’m very pleased.”

“Thanks,” said Vark enthusiastically.

But Jona didn’t feel the same enthusiasm as Vark, her legs were aching and her arms were getting tired from holding Kram half the time since he was feeling too lazy to walk.

She awoke groggily to find Vark shaking her wildly, his eyes full of terror.

“What?” asked Jona angrily, “I was sleeping.”

“It’s Kram,” replied Vark sounding slightly panicky, “he waddled off and stumbled into a Spike Monster.”

“Holy freaking Creator,” cried Jona, “where is he?”

But before Vark could answer a loud roar came from behind Jona.

“Behind you,” said Vark more terrified than ever, “with the Spike Monster.”

Jona got up and stared at the scene that was unfolding before her; a larger than normal Spike Monster was holding Kram in its claws while a large, orange quadruped creature with large fangs was fighting it, with Uncle Si behind it holding a red and white sphere in his hand.

“Psarrrrr!” cried Kram in fright.

“I could use your help,” said Si over the top of the fight going on in front of him.

“Oh, oh right,” said Vark still scared, “Umm, Grath, Raider help Uncle Si with the Spike Monster.”

He then released two creatures from their Aprikorn capsules, a large grey bipedal creature, with a large drill like horn on its nose appeared, along with an orange creature with a large mushroom on its back and many small legs. The large Horn Nose ran straight in to help defeat the opposing monster, while the Mushroom Back started absorbing sunlight. At the arrival of its two new opponents the Spike Monster dropped Kram, who fell to the ground on his head, and got ready to attack the large Horn Nose charging at it. The two large creatures collided with each other as the Mushroom Back fired a large beam of solar energy towards the Spike Monster; it screamed in pain but did not give in to its strong opponents. The two creatures continued to wrestle each other, moving slowly towards the cliff edge.

“Flamethrower!” cried Si.

A large blast of fire erupted from the Si’s quadruped ally, which hit the purple monster hard in the chest, leaving a large burnt area where the flame had hit.

As the Spike Monster stumbled back from the barrage of attacks, almost falling over the edge of the cliff face, Kram forced his way onto his feet from where he had been dropped and waddled over to where the Spike Monster was trying to regain its balance. The small Head Holder stared the two metre tall Spike Monster in the eyes, opened his mouth and released a jet of water that hit the beast in the face and forced it over the edge of the cliff. The creature screamed in terror as it fell to its death.

Si turned to Jona his eyes now visible from underneath his hat, “for Arceus’s sake, you need to take better care of that bloody Psyduck of yours it almost got us killed!”

He pointed to Kram who was now doing a small victory dance on the edge of the cliff, Jona quickly ran over and picked him up before he fell over with the Spike Monster. A loud zapping sound was heard behind her as Vark returned Grath and Raider to their Aprikorns.

“Umm, Uncle Si, why did you call Kram a Psyduck?” asked Vark inquisitively, “and what’s that ball you have in your hand?”

“Oh bloody Bidoof,” muttered Si, “it’s a long story.”

Vark sat down on a flat boulder and stared at his uncle, “we’ve got time.”

Jona sat down next to her friend and placed Kram on the ground next to her, “please tell us.”

“Argh, fine,” said Si sitting on a fallen tree the Spike Monster had knocked over, “do you two remember when I went travelling five years ago?”

Jona and Vark nodded, five years ago when the two of them were only eleven Si had gone travelling west into the land of Johto, a place of many legends.

“Well, when Cerberus and I,” he patted the red and white sphere in his hand, “reached the small village of Azalea we were told of this amazing creature that could purify the hearts of those who were evil and travel through time.”

Jona stared at him; this seemed impossible, and unlikely to be true. She turned to Vark to say something, but he was staring at his uncle in amazement as if he believed what he was being told.

“You don’t believe this do you?” she asked him.

Vark nodded his head in response, “has Uncle Si ever lied to us?”

The question hit Jona hard, it was true Si had never lied to them, but it was just too extraordinary to be possible in the slightest. No one could travel through time, no one.

“If you let me continue, I’ll try to explain everything,” Si’s voice was quite stern as he spoke to them, “anyway when we were there we ventured into the forest to try and find this amazing time travelling creature. But when we reached the shrine it was covered in huge thorn covered vines that seemed to be protecting the shrine from danger, Cerberus was able to quickly burn the vines to cinders but when we reached the actual shrine a small green fairy creature attacked us and sent us into the time portal and we travelled forward into the future nearly 490 years ahead of us!”
His eyes seemed to shine has he told his extravagant tale to his younger companions, “While I was there I found how people had managed to create machines similar to Vark’s Aprikorns that could store the magical creatures that they call Pokémon. They use Pokémon to battle and help them with everyday work. But after a while travelling around the future I became, uhh lets call it ‘time sick,’ anyway I grew tired of the future and went back to the shrine where I waited 2 months for the fairy to return. Eventually after the long wait the fairy turned up, but sent me 5 years shorter than my stay actually was and now I look a bit too old.”

Jona blinked a couple of times trying to take in what Si had said.

“So you’re telling us you travelled through time and then came back again right?” she asked him.
He replied with a quick nod.

“So you should know of what happens to us then, what we do with our lives?” Jona asked him.
Si frowned at this, “yes I do, but I think history should write itself without me telling you what happens.”

His reply shocked Jona, this wasn’t what she wanted to hear, she wanted to know what happened to her after this, what she turned out like. She wanted to know everything about her upcoming life.

Si seemed to notice the frustration on her face, “I know it might sound like a pile of Tauros dung, but I’m telling you the truth, you don’t have to believe me if you don’t want too, but it’s true.”

As the other two continued to bicker, Vark just sat there silently waiting for them to stop, but as they continued to go on he stood up, without the other two noticing and coughed loudly trying to get their attention.

“Instead of bickering, can we just get a move on,” Jona and Si looked at him in shock, as if they’d forgot he was there.

Si was the first to regain his wits and quickly agreed and started packing up, Jona quickly followed his lead and as soon as they were done the small group set off, onwards towards the Mountain that the Moon touches.
