A new, uneasy concept to the pokemon universe

In the past I've tried new concepts and topics to explore in the pokemon universe, stuff you wouldn't nessasarily put in a fanfiction, especially pokemon. I'm currently finishing up a few stories with varying themes, from loss and depression to a spin on a classic journey fic, from a elite four member's sorrows to a near death experience with the most unlikely of characters. And it wasn't til a few weeks ago that I finally wrote my first genuine battle sequence. Almost eighteen months into pokemon fanfiction writing and not a single battle written before.

I have a new theme I want to approach. Something that I'm certain hasn't been much of a topic in pokemon fics.

Since I'm keeping the plot underwraps, I'll be brief. In Kanto, present day, racial tensions are high, causing hate crimes and torture. A young trainer is accused of a crime he didn't do. A community is divided by race. Words are exchanged. A social war breaks out. Soon pokemon are thrown into the mix. A region in turmoil. Expect deep questions without answers and injustice.

Observing that, would you mind reading a fanfic that could actually be offensive?

Do you like new approachs to pokemon, or would you like to stick with the already popular themes (journey fics, gym leader fics, shippings etc.)?

Will you read this fic?

I love the idea. I am trying in my own fic to sort of reinvent the Pokemon world in that I want to make my story as it's own, stand-alone world so that people who theorhetically have never even heard of Pokemon before would enjoy it. I'm not saying I'm acomplishing that with any amount of skill, but it's the goal at least.

That being said, I think your idea sounds fantastic and I definitely would read.

I love this idea too. I would definitely read that story. Deterring from the typical journey and and gym leader plots is never a bad idea.

Mm. I would definitely read this fic. I have always wanted to see the gritty, shitty dark and downright nasty side of the Pokémon world.

Looking forward to this!

The first thing you have to know is that whatever you do with the Pokémon World is up to you, not the might-be readers. Many other fics included "offensive" stuff before, so it isn't exactly a new thing to the fandom.

I personally though, will read it if the writing is good. Some of your other stories and One-shots were good, so it should be easy to bring that story up to bar with them.

IMO more writers shouldn't be scared of experimenting a bit and including more risqué stuff in their fics. It's art, man! Don't let the Moral Guardians hold you back.

You're all right. I'm aware it's to my own right to make my own limits and stuff like that.

Haven't sure I've seen a poke-fic with a lynching yet. But there's always room for that. To tell this story, I'm also going to inccorperate music that you can listen to before the chapter to set a mood.

Several. I am keeping it rated M. Don't get worried though, i'm using a lot of made up ones, to fit with the poke-verse.

Made up ones? That could work, but just make sure they don't sound too silly. Especially since you're going for a mature tone, here.

Interesting idea. I have a story for the GalacticVerse in the works that expands on my "A Wish on Freedom" series, which is about a black female slave fleeing to try and find Jirachi, to expands the racial tension side of things. I'd be interesting in bouncing ideas off of you if your interested :)

Well there's an interesting aspect at the end of the story that I don't want to give away. It's sounds so morbid though.

I would be happy to have a few more ideas to explore.
