In the past I've tried new concepts and topics to explore in the pokemon universe, stuff you wouldn't nessasarily put in a fanfiction, especially pokemon. I'm currently finishing up a few stories with varying themes, from loss and depression to a spin on a classic journey fic, from a elite four member's sorrows to a near death experience with the most unlikely of characters. And it wasn't til a few weeks ago that I finally wrote my first genuine battle sequence. Almost eighteen months into pokemon fanfiction writing and not a single battle written before.
I have a new theme I want to approach. Something that I'm certain hasn't been much of a topic in pokemon fics.
Since I'm keeping the plot underwraps, I'll be brief. In Kanto, present day, racial tensions are high, causing hate crimes and torture. A young trainer is accused of a crime he didn't do. A community is divided by race. Words are exchanged. A social war breaks out. Soon pokemon are thrown into the mix. A region in turmoil. Expect deep questions without answers and injustice.
Observing that, would you mind reading a fanfic that could actually be offensive?
Do you like new approachs to pokemon, or would you like to stick with the already popular themes (journey fics, gym leader fics, shippings etc.)?
Will you read this fic?
