A Newbie in the Ring

So I was reading the rules, and I don't think it said anything about having to have a specific tournament you're entering. So I think this is okay.

Before anyone even looks at my team: Please understand that I have actually never competitively battled. I didn't even have Wi-Fi until I got Platinum. Thus, my team might look like the "uber suxorz" to a pro at competitive battling. So please be polite in your critiquing. I am fully aware that my team has no moves like Dragon Dance, Calm Mind, Stealth Rock, etc. Keep in mind that this was my in-game team and sometimes a team that I would fight against my friends with. I need your help to edit my movesets, held items, etc. If you read this, thank you so much.

Heracross: Nice set. Maybe a flame orb to activate guts to do more damage

Gengar: Shadow ball and dark pulse on the same set is not a great idea since they hit almost the same things. Replace dark pulse with thunderbolt and let it hold a life orb.

Kingdra: a bad hack ? lol it cant have inner focus ability. The set is nice, maybe a scarf as an item ? or a specs ?

Ambipom: Replace dig with double hit, other wise its fine. Although a life orb would be nice....

Camerupt: No complaints. Although a sunnybeamer would be nice

Manectric: I have never used one so I have no idea

Kyouhei is going to get raped. He's slow and has no defense EVs. Solar beam is useless in competitions unless you have sunny day.

No, just an idiot who put Inner Focus instead Sniper. What the hell was I looking at? Dragonite XD?

And thanks for the advice so far. Kyouhei does have quite the chance of getting raped by a Surf o_o;. Should have thought of that.

You'd be surprised. I have a similar set on my Jolly Heracross and she's swept entire OU teams on her own without any assistance. Wide Lens helps with the shaky accuracy of both Megahorn and Stone Edge. With it, they'll almost certainly always hit.

The only thing I'd change is that Reversal. Without a Scarf or Endure...

Have you considered giving it a Swords Dance? A 766 attack stat is nothing to laugh at. And that's only with one SD, imagine if you get a chance to use all three!

If you decide to go with Reversal, I suggest Endure and a Choice Scarf

If you go with the suggested Flame Orb, I suggest Protect to make sure you survive long enough to get burned

My personal recomendation is still Wide Lens+Swords Dance with Megahorn, Stone Edge and Close Combat though

That's an awesome idea! I considered SD, but I just didn't want to waste it on Reversal XD! I hadn't considered Close Combat though, it's worth a try though!

I'm thinking that I really need a Pokemon with better SpDef. I might need something that can take hits. Kingdra and Heracross are okay, but should I perhaps consider Mantine, Dusknoir, or Umbreon? My Pokemon all (except Ambi and Hera who have high Atk) have high SpAtk. I think I might be lacking in defensive Pokemon. I don't know. What do you guys think?

well the way I think is that if you want to have all sweepers you can. Like my team has no walls and is just attackers and it works reasonably well. So if you want to play with all attackers then go for it.

on your heracross drop the eq for close combat and give it a choice scarf and reversal for a night slash. mayb change its evs to 252/spe beacuse a choice heracross with maxed speed is a terror to face.

You know, your Camerupt idea isn't entirely bad. Smogon actually has the same EV spread... but it desperately needs a different nature. Brave is good.

I've noticed none of your poke'mon set anything up, No toxic spikes or Stealth rocks or Weather effects, Maybe you could concider that? Sp.Attk Kingdra is diffrent might give you a suprising edge i like it Also Fake out on Duo would be better and use him as a lead.

www.smogon.com, A good site that tells you Typical sets for Poke'mon and good moves and natures + EV's so its worth checking out your poke'mon against that. All tells you counter's to your Poke'mon so you know when your introuble. Worth a check mate. Love the Kingdra.

Also a quick one, Manectric is a nice little poke'mon to use, Fast, nice SP.Attk and its ability can put a spanner in the works, Maybe swap crunch for something though

that's an big all-out attacking team. not good. a salamence with two dragon dances and outrage will kill this team. maybe a metagross or something else defensive instead of camerupt would be good (he's not made for sweeping). Maybe also something defensive instead of manectric.

grosses are annoying you gotta use like 2-3 earthuakes to finish up...unless u have a sp atk Ev'd Magmortar to clean it up.
