WHO:

he's having a cold brew.

the barista put a smiley face there, considering i drank it during the afternoon, i can't help but feel a threatening aura towards me and my heart palpitations.

WHAT:

i'm building an army of sharktichi's in tamagotchi paradise.

although rn i'm on a sidequest in the sky field to level up.

WHEN:

currently, the one of the dogs (lincoln) is trying to figure out where the fireworks someone is setting off is coming from. its very much a summer vibe here.

WHERE:

i've been camping all week, its been quite fun. i used to spend most of my summer in a tent shrimping over my laptop so not much has changed. except the internet is a little bit better. it used to take hours to load a youtube video over a 256kbps connection so this is very much an improvement.

although the rain has been pretty bad. the infrastructures gotten steadily worse for wear in my home county. even my parents struggle with brown outs at their home more often then not. we lost power for over 24 hours between tuesday and wednesday (iirc, god my memory is like swiss cheese.) oh, and we got a tornado warning lol.

HOW:

its rly funny because "ur camping but why are you in your camper" (crying emoji) i swear i have been outside a lot... i do a lot of walking lol. i draw outside a lot too, but i needed to like lock in and finish some illustrations for a bang im contributing too. got those done!! but i needed the privacy to lock in lol.

tomorrow is my last day here though. boo. i don't wanna go back to work yet.

WHY:

idk, oshikatsu is kind of fun.

i guess this may look cringe, and perhaps when i was 15 this would be. but im 30 now and i suppose the things i do in my free time for a show/character i like should be of nobody's consequence. and i've really appreciated how much work goes into putting together an ita bag. nucleowolf's thread in particular really inspired me to try this out. it's a craft!! a work of art really! and its fun seeing it all come together.

HOW:

with the money i get from the job i have <-- also a cool thing about being 30.

i also got a lot of the charms and such made on websites like wooacry or vograce. you can just. upload your design and have them make a charm or standee of your oshi. i realized this just lurking r/itabags and r/oshikatsu where a lot of those folks have oshis with waaaaaaaaay less merch then mine.

of course, they should be of your own design, or something you commission yourself. don't upload someone elses design and deffo don't use genai!!

so i made a bunch of charms, the shipping is weird and they don't rly tell you its arrived but it is what it is.

i should mention that not all the charms on the bag are mine, its gonna be a mix of things i bought online too. a lot of fan merch ngl.

i think the long goal of this is that i do wanna sell merch, but even if that doesn't pan out at least i know how to make charms that appeal strictly to me!! lol

anyway this is a work in progress and not the only bag i'm working on for conventions this year!! but im rly excited about the lil things i've made for it.

i'm back at work for the first time in a week.

WHEN:

well, right now.

WHERE:

here, at my desk;;; that I have at work;;; 7pm on a tuesday;;;

WHY:

various adult societal expectations. also working the late shift is pretty normal for me.

HOW:

i really don't mind the late shift. when i get home at like 5:30PM i'm like. beat! i don't wanna do anything but lay in bed. giving myself more time in the morning has made me far more productive with my various hobbies then anything.

i used to do these kind of shifts when i was younger and working as a custodian. sometimes my shifts would last really late at night. same thing with some of my college jobs (one shift was 10-11 at night!! lots of college libraries stay open late like this so its very natural.) then i kind of did the 9-5 office job thong for a few years and hated it. sure i gotta work some weekends, but i also get time off during the week. the flexiblity of my schedule is something i think i've taken for granted in the past. not so much anymore!

this probably doesn't work for everyone, but it certainly does for me.

so i've been attempting to learn a word a day for nearly... a decade now? that's wild.


HOW:

i was a lot more proactive about it in college, when i kept my notebook right next to me. i fell off sometime during the pandemic but started back up with it after really getting into my hobonichi.

and i'm still not great at it <--- spent the last hour filling out my schedule for the month + writing down the WoDs for the last week or so. but!!! i think its nice to get into a habit/routine of something. even if its not everyday, you can try to do so.

a time... several years ago... but feels like six months ago at most.

on twitter, a website that somehow still exists but has been nerfed beyond belief :c

WHY:

oh character polls still exist, but not how i remember them.

HOW:

in general, my favorite types of these polls were the ones that encouraged mess. like if you didn't bot your blorbo you would lose. roronoa zoro appearing in the top ten of a best female jjk character poll.

i feel like the natural successor to these types of polls are the tumblr sexyman polls that require you to send in propaganda for your precious wet cat of a man, but you can't really manipulate the results in a way that satisfies the chaos gremlin in me.

for one, i would do such poll on an external site like google forms or surveymonkey. propaganda is not required but encouraged. you've already lost if you don't set up your bots yesterday. please write in leon galar champion in for the best female one piece character poll.

and of course i would annouce the results dramatically with dumb tiktok edits and wobble animations. i have a need to compile all the excesses of fandom culture in the 2020s and possibly tear a hole in the fabric of the universe.

so anyway. character polls... i miss u.
