As is well known by now, the dub of Pokémon Advance Generation changes the symbol on Ash's badge case to a rectangle. Looking at the recent episode, I have thought of a possible explanation for this. While it is odd that the same symbol is on May's bandana and never edited, have a look at Ash's t-shirt:

So I think that someone at Kids WB thought that the kids would get confused about who the case belonged to and told 4Kids to change it. Yes, it's stupid because the t-shirt is usually hidden but Ash was running around without his hoodie a few episodes prior to the first edit, so they did know it was there:

Don't forget that even 4Kids didn't think the edit was necessary as it was initially only in the Kids WB version.

Well, it's as plausable as anything else linked to Kids WB...

Eh...I don't know. We never actually see May's badge case (it's presumably hidden under Ash's when her dad hands it to them), so it's really hard to say if that was what Kids' WB! was thinking or not.

It don't think it matters what May's badge case looks like. Just that Ash's badge case resembles a part of his appearance.

Actually, I think that is a very good theory, FabuVinny.

I mean, it would make sense if KidsWB asked 4Kids to do that (even though we don't get to see Ash without his jacket much in the anime).

That is the exact same red line thing that is on his badge case.

And thanks for posting those pics, FabuVinny. I saved them and will be adding them to my Ash Photobucket account soon.

He looks great without his jacket on (off-topic, I know). ^_^

I guess.
Although... what kind of kid would get confused? ^^; Or are standards lower now then they used to be?

And even 4Kids gave them some credit in this case.^^

Rectangle Man, Rectangle Man....
Has to edit things with the stroke of his hand.
4Kids Man beat Rectangle man.
Now we can't get things from Japan~
Rectangle Man....

LOL, V Faction.

XD

Anyway, this thread has hilariously gone a bit off-topic now, lol.

V-Faction: I recognize that song, but can't quite place my finger on it....

I was thinking, maybe the Badge Case resembled a product available in the U.S. And their is that rule against products being advertised in Tv Shows (*Cough, Beyblade, B.Da.Man*)

"Particle Man" by They Might Be Giants.

...In any event, I couldn't find any product resembling the badge case, so either that's not the reason, or I'm not looking hard enough.

I'm not suprised if they did do that for that reason. Considering its KidsWB. Just look at their standards. It doesn't take a wild guess that they questioned kids' intelligence by editing the badge case.

I think the Badge case was edited because It's similar to the Pokemon pencilcases that you can buy in real. But this is only my thought.

^ I don't think so, since they kept Haruka's badge case intact (I think), I don't think it's for advertising reasons.
