A Question About Batlle Tower (Sinnoh)

Is anyone sure if you earn EVs in Battle Tower while battling? I know you do NOT gain experience from defeating other pokemon...but perhaps you still gain EVs?
 
As far as I know, Battle Tower is entirely 'arcade' style. You gain nothing from winning except for the record along with any Ribbons and/or bonus prizes.
 
Jeeze that stinks. I mean other than BP The point then is...kind of slim unless you are playing online?
 
The point is the BP, and perhaps a trainer card upgrade if you are skillful/lucky enough to get a 100 win streak. Why would you want to gain random EVs from all the random Pokemon you'd be fighting? Not to mention, you wouldn't make it very far unless your Pokemon were already EV trained properly.
