If this seems like a stupid question, please tell me that politly, because I'm not the biggest Pokemon geek in the world. I just like the stories and characters.

My question is:
Is the Mew that appeared in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew the same Mew as the one that fought Mewtwo in Mewtwo Strikes Back? I'm not sure. I know Movie 8 Mew was able to transform, but that doesn't neccessarly mean anything. Does anyone think they have an answer?

According to Bulbapedia, they are two different Mew.

The two Myuu have different voice actors; Movie 01 Myuu is voiced by Yamadera Kou'ichi while the Myuu in AG Movie 03 is voiced by Ko'orogi Satomi. That alone leads many fans to believe that the two are different.

I just realized that, if Movie 8 Mew was Movie 1 Mew, we would've probably have gotten a reference to Mewtwo. Not from Ash or the main characters, but probably from Mew itself.

If they were the same Mew, the one in the Lucario movie would have been voiced by Yamadera. He was Aaron, after all.

Wow, Mew's first VA played Aaron? Interesting.

The movie 8 voice is cute, but my favorite has always been Yamadera :]

I just checked, and son of a gun, Argy is right. Yamadera did play Mew in Movie 1 and Sir Aaron in Movie 8 (as well as a role in every Pokemon film).

I wonder, if he was there recording for Sir Aaron, why he didn't record for Mew and reprise his first movie role.

I know this is kinda stupid to say, but I really wish the Movie 8 Mew was the same one from the first movie.

It sort of ruins the one-of-a-kind status Mew seemed to hold before. Not that it bugs me too much, but it makes me wonder why the writers didn't just make them the same. :/

I'm actually not a big fan of the "one of a kind" Pokemon. I like to think Mew are so sneaky that there are actually almost as many as Mew as there are Pidgey, but they're so sneaky that nobody but other Pokemon see them.

Also, I wouldn't have mind the same Mew appearing in both movies. It would have been a nice continuity touch. I'm still surprised that the actor who played the first Mew didn't reprise the role despite already being there for Sir Aaron.
