I've been a big fan of Weavile since the Lucario movie but there's one thing I've always wondered. Is Weavile a cat? I can tell that it's some sort of feline but is it suppose to be a cat specifically?

I don't really see how it is cat like. Can you please explain?

According to Bulbapedia, Weavile was inspired by the Kamaitachi, a Japanese wind spirit that traveled in groups of three and had sickles for hands. It also looked like a weasel. That explains Weavile's speed, habit of moving in groups, and ability to learn Icy Wind.

So that's likely the direct type of thing it is, but I definitely see some cat elements.

It really not nesecarry for a pokemon to resemble something. Look at Rotom.

Well the name appears to be a combination of "weasel" and "vile"... So I guess a weasel would be the best guess.
