hey guys blaze here..

Ive got a question recently my pokemon gold version has deleted it own save and i am wondering if anyone knows why?

Thanks

Well is it still saving after the deletion?

If it's saving still after the deletion then it's probably a bit of bad luck. I can't really explain those type of deletions unfortunately.

If it is not saving after the deletion (as in no matter how many times you start a new file and save it still doesn't hold a save) then your save battery has died.
RBYG and GSC all have save batteries in them that control the save feature in them. They're normal watch batteries thus they only last so long.

After reading this topic I've remembered of something "vaguely related" that happened to me once with Pokemon Silver.
After about a year without playing it, when I decided to play it again and continue my game save, the game said that Time was not set... in other words it had forgotten what time it was... The good thing is that it allowed me to set time once again and continue playing.

I guess this sort of things sometimes happen when the games are not played for a long time...

Are you able to replace this watch battery without destroying your game???

yes "Epic Fail" it's possible but you have to be very careful.

I did it with my Gold version. Been working since last year since I replaced the battery. Took 3 hours to do it though. Getting the screw out is a pain and once you got that out it's about getting the prongs off the battery that are stuck on the battery. You got to take it very slow.

There's actual instructions on this on the gamefaqs silver boards.=)

It's down the page under:
Why won't my game save?
Why isn't my game clock keeping time correctly?

It's all about whether you want to risk it or not.

I took the risk and was patient and it payed off. There were a few times I actually thought I had damaged my game when doing it though, I was so nervous. I was so happy when it saved and worked 100% afterwards.=)

Charmanders Blaze. It's good to hear that your game still saves. Pity about the deletion of the file though.

Umm i turned it on earlier today and the save was gone...

I guess my battery had died forever..

Edit: Plus the nearest game shop to me is in tamworth 2 hours away...

Well, that's how Gen II goes. Same thing happened to me, all three of 'em are goners.

Gen I still works fine, though, and it's been ten years.

Either way... don't worry too much: GSDS, if it is coming, should be announced around the time we get Platinum.
