I left the Pokemon fandom a long time ago because I was overwhelmed by all the episodes and characters and Pokemon and games I'd never be able to catch up with, but after a dream last night I suddenly became interested in what was happening in the series.

I'm not here to ask, "What's happening in the series? Where are my favorite characters? God forbid, has romance developed between ANY of the characters?" No, I'm just here to ask:

Do you see an end in sight?

Not at all. The franchise will continue as long as there is money to be made; in other words, as long as it has a large enough fanbase. Since Diamond and Pearl, popularity actually seems to be rising to me, though I don't have any numbers to back that up. I think Pokemon will be around for quite a while.

Welcome back! Are you by any chance the same Rachael as in Little Rachael?

Don't know exactly when you stopped watching, but May left the show and was replaced by the female heroine of the latest Generation: Hikari/Dawn. Ash won the Battle Frontier (based in the feature of Pokémon Emerald) and headed to Sinnoh to go on the usual get 8 badges and participate in the local league. He has a new rival and the series has been getting more interesting with new villians such as Pokémon Hunter J and Team Galactic. As for romance? Nah. Only Brock is the one who "falls in love" with every female he sees, but that's it. :p

It's best to say that romance is something Pokémon doesn't take seriously. (When it is shown, it's shown in a humourous manner).

As for Pokémon games, there's now nearly 500 something creatures.

The closest thing we've come to romance is the way May and Drew's flirting starts becoming mutual, they blush over each other toward the middle and end of Battle Frontier. Considering they're both in Johto together, they're probably the only two characters who are close to becoming a couple in the series. I doubt we'll actually *see* that ever happen, but they're getting there. :p

Buneary also has a crush on Ash's Pikachu, which is rather cute. Probably the only thing representing romance in the DP series at the moment.

Those are the only two examples of romance that are in the recent seasons, besides Brock flirting with every girl there is of course.

Yeah, that's me, Rachael, LittleRachael, etc. I often go on hiatus without warning from various sites--DeviantArt, Gaia, etc.--without even really consciously deciding to, because I get into something else and spend most of my time there instead. My major fandom right now is Valkyrie Profile which, interestingly enough, first caught my interest because the English voices for the first game were the ones from Pokemon.

What, May's gone? I never even really got over Misty leaving the show. :(

Dare I ask if JJ&M are still around?

And the prospect of subtitled Pokemon ever being released is still bleak, am I right?
