I'm just putting this thread out there to gauge interest on the potential of a forum simulator tournament and also get some ideas for the setup of it.

I propose that the best place to hold it would be on Pokemon Online. Rather than all being on at one time I also think it would be easiest to individually arrange times against opponents. Best of three format including a group stage may be optimal to ensure that everybody plays at least a few matches.
 
Hopefully the BMG server will be up again soon, which would make tournaments easier.
 
Agreed. I think that if not we could arrange to play games on one of the less populated servers just because it makes the opponent easier to find.
I'm also unsure on tiers. I think anything too obscure would scare people away so standard OU would likely be best. Another option would be best of three where the players do Ubers, OU and UU, though if a player isn't proficient with one of the tiers, they may be scared to enter.
