Hey, this is my first ever RMT, but I'm not new to competitive battling. Been in it since the good ol' D/P days-- 'cept I tend to use the unusual Pokemon or two. This team has no real weaknesses aside from a Grass type weakness, but they're too rare to be a real threat and fast subbers can be problematic. Do note that this team has around an 80-90% success rate for me.
252 HP/252 Attack/4 Def
Brave nature
Sturdy
@ Custap berry
Stealth Rock
Dragon Tail
Gyro Ball
Earthquake
Ahh. 'lix, 'lix, 'lix. This guy is one serious badass-- far more than I honestly expected at first. It can do so much to almost every popular lead out their in today's metagame and usually gets rocks up too, which are really beneficially to my team. Sturdy allows it to always get in two attacks (except against Priority users), thanks to its Custap Berry. I'm not big into calcing things except from personal experience so I still know what he can do.
Vs other leads:
Blaziken: Stealth Rock on the first turn and take the incoming Fire Blast. Life Orb Fire Blast doesn't ohko but still leaves Steelix in Custap range most of the time. Then Steelix outspeeds and ohkos with Earthquake.
Nattorei: Switch to Xatu and set up.
Froslass: Gyro Ball on the expected Taunt, leaving the Froslass at 1 HP (thanks to sash). Then Custap Gyro Ball KO while they go for the predictable Destiny Bond.
Espeon: Dragon Tail as these things can be tricky. Usually they'll Calm Mind or set up Reflect/Light Screen. Sometimes they even Psychic which does a pathetic amount.
Xatu: No Thunder Waving or Toxicing Steelix so just go for the Dragon Tail while they Calm Mind or Feather Dance or something else.
Azelf: This thing is annoying so just Gyro Ball on the expected Taunt/Fire Blast, then Gyro Ball again. Not too sure on whether this KOs Azelf but it leaves at such a low health, so yeah.
Uxie: These things are rare, but problematic. Dragon Tail or switch to Xatu on the incoming rocks or Yawn.
Ninetails: Stealth Rock while they Fire Blast or Nasty Plot. Earthquake then ohkos almost all, if not all, variants.
Politoed: Stealth Rock as they Scald/Hydro Pump, then Earthquake which can do a huge chunk to Specially defensive versions.
Aerodactyl: These things fail so much to 'lix, just Gyro Ball on the Taunt and then another as they either EQ or set up rocks.
Ambipom: Fake Out breaks Sturdy but apart from that, they're easily picked off as Steelix rapes its shit.
Can't be bothered going through every lead, SO THIS WILL DO.
188 Attack/92 Defense/216 Sp. Defense
Careful Nature
Thick Fat
@ Leftovers
Curse
Body Slam
Earthquake
Rest
This thing is a freaking beast. With over 500 HP and 340 Sp. Defense, coupled with Thick Fat it walls the shit out of all Fire types, with the exception of Arcanine, who is still ohko'd after he CCs. I'm thinking of swapping Thick Fat for Immunity and removing Rest, but burn is quite a common status ailment and it screws with 'lax.
252 HP/252 Defense/4 Sp. Defense
Bold Nature
Natural Cure
@ Eviolite
Counter
Softboiled
Heal Bell
Seismic Toss
This guy is a new improvement to my team, but it has been sooo helpful with its Heal Bell and even Counter has owned some physical 'mons. It's still scared shitless of those Fighting types but aside from that, it is an all-round beast. It could really use some T-Spikes support though, as it does sit around and do nothing a good bit.
252 HP/252 Sp. Defense/4 Defense
Calm Nature
Unaware
@ Leftovers
Stockpile
Toxic
Recover
Surf
HOLY SHIT. This guy is so freaking awesome, like serious. Special wall with almost 400 HP and over 250 Sp. Defense and after just one Stockpile, is near impossible to take out. Toxic/Stockpile/Recover stall, and then Surf for attacking. I've tried a few things in the last slow like Encore and Yawn, but Surf is better overall imo. I would replace Toxic with Ice Beam or Encore or possibly Sub if I could get a T-spikes setupper :/
252 HP/252 Defense/4 HP
Bold Nature
Marvel Scale
@ Leftovers
Scald
Recover
Dragon Tail
Toxic
This thing is a beast, surprisingly. It has serious natural bulk and also a good defensive typing. Dragon Tail might seem like it is hindered by a Bold nature but the difference is usually no more than a few useless percent and lowering attack is better than defenses or speed. Yet again, could benefit from T-spikes, leaving a free slot for Ice Beam or some other coverage move.
248 HP/252 Defense/8 Sp. Defense
Bold Nature
Magic Bounce
@ Leftovers
Thunder Wave
Calm Mind
Psychic
Roost
This thing has saved my ass and swept so much. Just switch it in on a Ferrothorn or something, set up a Calm Mind or T-wave and rape/switch/whatever.
