Hello, hello! As I think you could surmise, this is a thread all about tea! *boba is perhaps a bit different, though, so maybe best for a different thread? unsure, lol

You're welcome here whether you enjoy herbal tea in teabags, looseleaf blends from your local shop, or pay lots of shipping fees to import fancy pu'erh. In the end, tea is such a lovely thing, and I think it would be very nice to have a space on Bulba to talk about it, ehehe. I'm sure there's more people like us out there, right?

In terms of my current preferences, personally... I like black tea blends, especially fruity ones (I know of this one peach cinnamon blend I'd die for), but everything else I tend to prefer on their own? Right now I'm drinking lots of jasmine scented green tea and jade oolong, and just bought coconut and cocoa flavoured tea blends from a local shop by my university. It's cold weather, so it's the perfect time for trying lots of kinds.

Okay! That's all! I'm excited to hear from everyone else, hopefully ~

yay tea thread!!! i'm still a tea beginner if you will and figuring out what kinds of tea i do and don't like, but i've really been enjoying that process. primarily i really like teas that are on the sweeter side especially if they are fruity in nature. most of the tea i make for myself right now is pretty simple tea bags you can get from the store but i do like going out to cafes to get myself something fancier when i get the opportunity, i especially enjoy a good boba.

do y'all fuck with sweet tea

people who think it's just iced tea with sugar added (like a lot of places here in the northern US) get it wrong

it's iced tea but the sugar is added as it brews so it caramelizes. it's different than just adding sugar to already brewed and cooled iced tea.

I love tea! I'm not like a connoisseur or anything, but I enjoy it a lot. My beverage of choice is just good old iced black tea (sweetened or not, either is good), but I love hot tea too, and I love all kinds of either black or herbal blends. I'm not super picky.

If we're getting more into specifics, there's this company called Tea and Absinthe that makes (mostly) fandom-themed teas that I absolutely love. They have a booth at NYCC every year and I always make sure to buy their sampler box when I'm there. Truthfully, the fandom connection doesn't really mean anything to me (I'm not actually a fan of most of the things they base their teas off of), but the actual teas are so damn good and I can't get enough of them.

btw have any of y'all tried the marie antoinette tea from ladurée? it's so fuckin good. it's a blend of blacck and green tea with orange peels, rose petals, pieces of pineapple (which i do not like but you don't notice it), and aromas of lemon, orange, jasmine, kumquat, honey, lime, grapefruit, and rose

Sounds interesting, but nope.

Btw, any yerba mate enjoyers here too?
Not tea, obviously, but tea adjacent i guess.
It is quite fun to sip it through the bombillas

Just bought a pu'erh beginner's set I saw a post about on social media :yay: It might take a while to come, but it was such a good deal, and it's curated by someone... the sort of thing where it's some guy who loves tea doing it out of the goodness of his heart, which is lovely. If anyone else feels like checking it out, feel free!

I’m not a big tea person but I do love a good earl grey <3 I need to try more fruity ones sometime though ….. there’s a tea club at my school I need to start going more ….,
You have a tea club??? Oh my god, you're so lucky, please go if you want to... I'm an officer in my university's Japanese student group and we've been thinking about running a teatime / matcha event series, but an entire club would be... whoa... you have given me ideas! LOL

I like sencha and matcha and white teas of various types, but nowadays I mostly really drink only herbal non caffeine "tea", a different one depending on the time of day, to match my circadian rhythm.
White tea is lovely! I've only tried it a few times, but the Silver Needle I tried was very nice. I'll need to get it again, I've had my eye on this cake... maybe if I get a gift card for Christmas or something ~. I find that I'm not really affected by the caffeine content in tea (coffee is a very different story), so I tend to drink it at any and all hours of the day LOL, but that makes sense! Herbal tea is great, too... I've been drinking this nice roiboos chai lately.

Very proud of how I got you into tea LOL. Fruity teas my beloved... teabags from the store have a somewhat bad reputation from those who're very serious about tea, and while I will say that looseleaf is often better, there's nothing wrong with enjoying bagged! Bigelow has some very good ones I remember really liking when I was just getting into tea.

I have... never had it! I don't love super sweet things (I feel as though this shocks people), but I'd def be open to trying it sometime? Interesting that some people don't make it correctly...

Not picky squad! LOL. I almost feel as though I've heard of that company, hmm! Themed teas sound kind of nice, honestly... in the end, what matters is that they taste good, so it's wonderful that you were able to find some that you liked!

Whatttt this sounds so nice... spenny, but good! I'll need to keep an eye out, hmmhmm.

Paging @recarmdra LOL! I'd say tea adjacent fits though! The shop by my university actually has some yerba mate and yerba blends, but I haven't tried it yet... would you say that it's still palatable even if I were to use a tea strainer, or is it one of those things where it's like you need a bombilla and mate in order to properly enjoy it? :chansey:

I never tried it without a bombilla but I suppose you could probably make it work by just not taking the strainer out. The leaves can also be reused many times, that is a big part of the charm.
Oh, edit: the brewing temperature is very important! If it is too hot it does not taste that great. Something around 80degrees Celsius is optimal AFAIK

I love white tea - I used to drink it a lot when they carried it in my grocery store but I haven't had it in too long. I like green and black tea too, as long as they are strong enough to have flavor. Some herbal teas ("tisanes" I guess is what they're called) that I like are blackcurrant, hibiscus, and mint.

There's a tea thread now?? I just really love tea. I haven't found a tea that's like a favorite (but I do know which ones I prefer to avoid lol) but it's just something I've always enjoyed. What I DO know a bit about is addons if you will, the little extras. Some of my favorites:

Leaves: I'm still VERY new to the world of tea leaves, I didn't think it would change much but it truly does.
Honey: Honey is great. It's sweet, and I like sweets. It kinda ends at that, but it's still good :wynaut:
Peppermints: I love peppermint tea, BUT I also love other teas, with peppermints! I talked about in RM so I'll quote it here:
One time I got really sick, and my parents made me some tea (I think chamomile?) and put a candy cane in it, and it was super good and I felt so much better the next day. Now around Winter time, I always put a candy cane in my tea, I don't think it tastes to much different, but I think my brain just has it associated with comfort after that day. Kinda waiting for it to be Winter time now...
Still think this is why I love peppermints.

I won't blabber too much about my tea habits for now but I wonder if any of you have tried dried Chinese white chrysantemum? I bought a small packet of this in my local tea shop after the seller said that its flavour is terrible. While I did get a few pointers I'd like to know any tips you may have.

As I am drinking my herbal tea right now with a whole bunch of different herbs in it, (such a rich flavour! Also so medicinal!)

I got reminded of this fun exchange on the RM thread lol:
Hi Handium here, I am not one for tea but I am one for the tea makers

been drinking a lot of cinnimon apple herbal tea this fall. the brenner's brand from aldi is really good!

although we ran out of hot water in the watercooler today at work, i only got a tiny amount out of my last bag of it. :c

although it might be time for winter blends considering the weather in my neck of the woods lol. i love peppermint tea, but does anyone have fave teas for the colder months?

I get given a lot of tea, but a lot of it is black tea and I've been cutting down on caffeine for the past couple years, so they just sort of pile up in my pantry.

Rooibos tea is one of my favorite non-caffeinated teas. My friend and I were in some ramen shop in Matsuyama and we thought the tea was really good, and when we asked what it was, it was this.

i love peppermint tea, but does anyone have fave teas for the colder months?
Smith Teamakers makes a blend called Silent Night which is a blend of peppermint, cinnamon, ginger, and licorice. I was given it some time ago, but I remember it being quite good.

You know I like me tea with 70 percent tea, 30 percent white sugar

I’m also a big peppermint tea fan! (Now I want another regional form for Sinistea)

The best tea is the way my boyfriend makes it with a ton of milk and sugar and it’s really soothing like a really warm hug in a cup. I think he based it on a food theory recipe but I can’t remember exactly
