A Very Helpful Character Development Tool

GASP! I love this thing! It's pretty fun to take as yourself, too.

I got a 16, myself. Although, I'm pretty sure that a sadistic, blood-crazed madman isn't likely to be a Mary Sue any time soon.

I got a pretty high score in the section regarding how much the character is based off myself, since that's all my main character is. But since he wasn't made more attractive than me, cooler than me, or doing anything I want to but probably never will do, I don't think he's a Mary-Sue.

Oh, fuck me.

Characters based off the people making them tend to be really popular nowadays, but I really don't see how those characters could be considered Mary Sues...

I used to have one, and I can personally attest to the fact that it makes you less willing to show that character in a negative light or let bad things happen to them. Stephanie Meyer very obviously based Bella off of herself. However, Stephen King pulled it off, but only because he usually makes them bad guys. I think it's possible to pull it off, but only with lots of experience. Meanwhile, LD, what'd your guys get? Ed got a 17. I make a point to make him fail routinely.

I made a character based on myself, but I like to think that I put my negative points in the highlight sometimes. Bad temper, a bit of a pessimistic attitude, not really confident in his abilities once he fails, doesn't really have the best of relationships with his family...

I made a character based on myself (IRL) He was a chaotic evil pyromaniac sorcerer who made obvious passes at men and women alike, simply because he liked making them uncomfortable. Near the end, he lived in a giant, living castle which had a huge beam on the bottom he used to destroy cities for fun and profit. He was violent, greedy, selfish, cared for nobody but his robotic servants Domino (A creepy chick who was a master of Jujitsu, Karate, and Tai-Chi and is obsessed with cartoons) and Vicious (A psychopathic robot butler whose hands could turn into swords ad my guy programmed to dispose of bodies via ingesting them.), and was a bad tipper. The game ended when my guy literally set the world on fire, killing everyone, just for laughs. Guess which traits I added for fun!

Heh, Kaylee got an 18, and I haven't been able to properly get into Garen's mind well enough to take it as him yet. It's scary in there. o_O

Kenton Kagimoto got a 19, and I think it's relatively accurate, so yay. I'll try Katelyn later.

EDIT: Also tried the second quiz and was mildly surprised at the answer, because it's true.

Kenton Kagimoto is suspiciously similar to you as you'd like to be. He is not at all cool; in fact, he thinks cool is a temperature reading, and when he says "Oh, I just put on whatever old thing's lying around," he means "on the floor, where I threw it last night - but I turned the underwear inside out first." There's never been anything special about him that he could see; boy, is he in for a surprise. He's come in for his share of hurt, but gotten off with minor damage. And he's gotten no slack from you.

In general, you care deeply about Kenton Kagimoto, but you're smart enough to let him stand on his own, without burdening him with your personal fantasies or propping him up with idealization and over-dramatization. Kenton Kagimoto is a healthy character with a promising career ahead of him.

That's pretty much exactly what Jordan got. Is Kenton supposed to be you or something?

Well, like some of the questions were trying to ask, Kenton Kagimoto isn't a direct copy of myself - but he definitely has a lot of my traits. I tried to give him a backstory that doesn't resemble mine, and the clothing/appearance was changed. The things we share are the personality (since it's relatively easy to play my mindset when I already follow it), and perhaps the hairstyle. But everything else is somewhat unique. I tried to have him a more exaggerated version of me, since not only am I reserved, I have little obvious emotion.

EXACTLY... I see this a lot.
