Hello. I don't know if this has been asked before (and I apologize if it has), but I've encountered somewhat of a strange issue with my Diamond game and I would be glad if any of you could shed some light on it.

I've recently completed PokéMon XD and migrated the Togepi I got from it (the thing had Tri-Attack and the Serene Grace abilty). After re-catching this Togepi in Pal Park (by this point it still had the Serene Grace ability), EV training it and going through all the effort of raising its happiness to the point of evolving, something odd happened.

After Togepi evolved, its ability mysteriously changed to Hustle. For no good reason.

I've reset the game multiple times and evolved the Togepi again multiple times, but the result was still the same - Togepi has Serene Grace, the Togetic it evolves into has Hustle.

It seems that this isn't a one-time glitch, as other people have encountered this issue in the past. There have been some conflicting accounts of what might be causing it, and I was hoping any of you might be capable of shedding light on this situation.

Thanks in advance. ^^

It's not an "issue" really. It's just that if a pokemon that gets migrated into DP has a new ability, there's a 50/50 chance of it changing to the new ability upon evolution. It's a quirk of the coding in getting a Gen III pokemon into a Gen IV game.

If you breed the Togepi in DP you wouldn't have to worry about it the "ability swapping."

Hmmm
Well I think it could just be a change in statistics and percentages between Gen III and IV, the once 50% Serene Grace is now 25%, your Togepi was above the line, so the game took its first chance to change it, when Togepi evolved, I may be wrong, and probably am, but that's my two cents.
