What would you call those things now that they are no longer on the pokmon's head, like its pre-evolutionary stages. Would they still be called horns? Or could you call them plates? The information placed on Wikipedia calls them half-hearts. I'd just like a good term for them to use in my fanfic.

Off-topic: Heh, I just thought I'd say that the thought just crossed my mind that if Ralts had pink hair, it would look like a Diclonius...if anyone knows what I mean. lol If that were the case, then I'd probably like it more than I already do. ^_^;

Well, from the sprite, they look like plates, but after taking a look at the official art, it's really not in a position to be called a plate (since plates are usually flat). Then again, they obviously can't be called horns either.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's some sort of funky triangle.

Well, what is coming out of Lucario's chest? It looks like a horn to me. If it were still on the head, it could be called a crest... Bony plate?

Those red things on Ralts and Kirlia's heads and Gardevoir's chest are emotional detectors of some kind. Their Dex entries say that they are able to sense other people and Pokémon's emotions, if I am not mistaken. I would assume that Lucario's "horns" might just be something for protection...
