In the character description for Lillie, it is stated that Lillie is a girl who loves Pokemon, but is unable to touch them for some reason.

I initially assumed that Lillie's inability to touch Pokemon would stem from some sort of past trauma or that perhaps she would have some sort of phobia preventing her from doing it. However, the description shed new light on the situation. Because if Lillie loves Pokemon, then clearly she doesn't fear or dislike them.

If we take personal interest or fear out of the equation, then it is something else entirely preventing her from doing it. Is it something physical, like an allergy? If it's not an allergy, then there's a strong possibility that whatever's wrong with Lillie is something that could eventually play into the larger plot of the Sun and Moon anime series.

And then we have the SM anime poster, where we see an Alolan Vulpix walking by Lillie's side. Is Vulpix a Pokemon Lillie catches later on? Or perhaps befriends? I don't know.

What do you guys think about Lillie's mysterious inability to touch Pokemon? Do you think it is something important and plot-relevant or do you think it is something minor that will mostly be used for gags and comedy?

It could be a allergy or a condition that makes it impossible for her to touch them. I have no idea unfortunately.

I honestly think Lillie might be a bit fearful of Pokemon. A lot of the promotional images and clips of her depict her as being rather nervous whenever a Pokemon is around. Perhaps something traumatic happened to her in the past as a result of touching a Pokemon.

I believe Alolan Vulpix might be the Pokemon that helps Lillie get over her "fear" of Pokemon that she'll be able to touch, ala Tory's Plusle and Minun from Destiny Deoxys. I feel like she'll befriend it first and then catch it a few episodes later. I think it would be a nice mini arc for her:)

Or or or... she is disguised as a human and is actually a Pokemon. She'd morph if she touched one,

But the official description says Lillie 'loves' Pokemon. So it would make no sense that she would fear them.

It's totally possible to like something, but be somewhat afraid of it for once reason or another. And the same thing was literally said about Tory iirc. His mother said he truly loved Pokemon, but still feared them because of the incident. I can see them doing something similar with Lillie.

Lillie why I always forgot your name Lillie. It is so romantic, so beautiful, so magician, and so musician name; so I always looking for you. Lana also o romantic, so beautiful, so magician, and so musician name, and Mallow also; so I am looking to see the all 3 characters
Maybe she afraid in the beginning from Pokemon such as May, Serena, but I am sure that Lillie is a strong girl and can challenge her fear, no i meant she can beat her fear because beat better than challenge

Many people think that she is a UB. So, probably that is the reason for this?

It could be something that's not-so-obvious. Maybe her inability to touch Pokémon isn't because of what might happen to her, but rather that her touch might have some sort of undesired effect on whatever Pokémon she touches.

I like this idea. I also think Lillies touch has a negative effect on Pokémon. Maybe she isn't really afraid of the Pokémon, but more afraid of the "interaction" with them. Since she loves Pokémon, she wouldn't want to hurt any of them and that would be causing her fear

Aside from the popular UB theory, I think she'd be similar to the boy from the Deoxys movie. Tory Lund, was it? Something traumatic happened, and she can't touch pokemon because she'd get too anxious.

Problem, in game she's the assistant of a Professor

In anime she's a student at a school with a ton of them

Unless we are approaching Nina Einstein 'Why on Earth is the xenophobe in a school in an Area filled with the people she is frightened of' levels of idiocy, why would she be there.

Unless we are still making these jokes

Well yes she does in episode 14 of the sun and moon series the alolan vulpix she hatches is the only thing she can touch at the moment. I hope that answers your question.
