About those people who hate Nintendo.

Now, this is about those FPS gunning games.

1 = The story

Back before the release of XBOX and PS2, people cared about gameplay. Super Mario Bros. is old, yet is popular. Same goes for Pokemon Red and Blue, Earthbound, Final Fantasy, Excitebike, The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Land, Super Mario 64, and a bunch more!

2 = When it started...

In 2001, Halo was released. This started to take a big effect on Nintendo, as many people loved Halo. In 2003, this took a bigger effect. Call Of Duty was released. It got so popular, sequels were released. 1 year later, Halo 2 was released. Nintendo wasn't doing well, because many people loved Halo and COD. So the Gamecube didn't do well...

3 - Worser...

When a certain COD was released... It changed Nintendo forever... People started to diss Nintendo. People hated it do to the Wii's lack of HD graphics. Players and reviewers didn't like Nintendo's decision about no HD. Then COD fanboys appeared. That got bad. They hated Nintendo. They loved COD. They seemingly played nothing but COD. And I mean those, the ones who post trolling comments on Chuggaconroy's videos.

Until COD, people cared about gameplay. I agree, COD is a good game...just...overrated. After COD, they cared about graphics. Nintendo was still popular. The Wii outselling XBOX 360 and Playstation 3. The graphics thing is complete bullshit. I mean, why care about graphics? Still, HD is good.. But many people want the original ways. People dissing Nintendo is bad. THEY SAVED THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY IN NORTH AMERICA, FOR GOD'S SAKE! And diss Nintendo? Really! I will be happy when lots like Nintendo again.

Oh yeah, no offense to COD and Halo fans. I only mean those who are super-fanboys. The OK ones are those who play different games.

As I said, COD fans who also play Nintendo or other games are fine.
I mean the COD fans hating Nintendo one, not Nintendo fans hating COD.

The Halo/CoD fanboys happen to be a branch off of the hardcore fanbase who despise casual gamers, who Nintendo was currently targeting towards. It's basically a never-ending battle between the two sides, which fuels up the console wars.

And then on the other side, you have people just as bad saying how "CoD SUX" and how Nintendo is supposedly the only "TRUE GAMING SYSTEM", and blaming others for their console's reputation.

There's more to games then having good gameplay, if the graphics are painful (BW and 80s sprite scaling), then not everyone is going to give it a 10/10 award.

As for Nintendo and the kiddie reputation, they had built it up over a while.

I dunno, I hear there are some people, mainly from Screwattack, who praise the 80s sprite scaling thanks to Mega Man 9.

I prefer to think of it as a shift in what the gaming industry focuses on. Sometime when games started to be built on polygons instead sprites, they realized that this would be perfect to make FPSes from, and thus, they started to thrive. It was also helped by a change in mentality that caused more mature games to be made. The same gimmicks and repetitiveness that used to be used for platformers now went to other genres. I admittedly cannot say much about genres that I am not familiar about, but I will not question that it seems to be what people want. As for "kiddie" and hardcore games, yeah, that mentality has existed for ages, even before video games existed. I'd even dare say that it's been around for time immemorial. Once you reach a certain age, you start to desire different things than you did as a kid. It is possible to still like the things you liked as kid as well. It is unfortunate that gamers would divide themselves so, but it honestly can't be helped. Just play the games you like and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Not everyone who play FPSs cares only about the graphics.
I will admit that there are some people in the Cod/Halo fandom that do take the graphics of the game far too seriously and ignore stuff such as game play. But not everyone who likes those games are like that, not even a majority are. I would know since I'm a huge Halo fan and have meet many other fans of it in both real life and online.

Videogames are a never ending war, there will always be people hating other things in it.

The Lengend of Zelda Link's Awakening is living proof that you don't need graphics to enjoy a game. Just good gameplay, story and characters.

Back then, people cared about the gameplay, not the graphics. Nowadays, people play games for graphics. They are like, "OmG ThIS gAme lOOks sO gOOd! wHo cAreZ abOut nIntEndo! ThEre grAphiCs suCk! i HatE yOu NinTenDo!

Oh! This game is awesome! I will play this forever! Nintendo, you are awesome!

I wonder why people cared about graphics. Doesn't it matter by gameplay too? Just because it looks very realistic doesn't mean it is the most awesome game. Hopefully one day, those Nintendo haters will realize that gameplay also matters. With a game that makes them play Nintendo games, not just realistic or HD games.
