Those who are familiar with science fiction would know this quite well.
Ancient people who controlled the entire galaxy, wielding incredibly advanced technology incomprehendable to our current civilization. Take, for example, Star Wars, Star Trek, 2001: a Space Odyssey, and various video games.
Then... those civilizations collapsed/disappeared and/or regressed to a lower level.
And in some cases, those might even turn out to be our ancestors who played with God and lost. Other times, those civilizations transcended to immortality themselves.
This all goes well in sci-fi, but is it possible in real life? Could some higher being have created us and/or the universe, controlling a giant intergalactic empire - perhaps even today without us knowing? Or perhaps we could be the end results of an experiment, and what we perceive as God, angels, Jesus, and other God-like beings actually be alien scientists inserting some catalyst into out civilization (and perhaps even to write their names as an easter egg)?
I know this might seem like a lulz-worthy topic on par with those of Mudkipz, you've gotta get some things off your chest!
