Hello folks! This is a blog for my headcanons and thoughts about the series. :bulbaWave:

I've been calling my verse "after epochs" based on the Project Voltage song of the same name by sasakure.uk. As most of these headcanons relate to the characters after their journeys, as they grow up and become adults I thought it was appropriate!!

This blog will probably contain a lot of rambling, lists, doodles, memes that I think relate to the characters etc. Whatever helps me flesh out my thoughts.

Before we begin: I wanna set up some guidelines with regards to my interpretation of the canon :enzap::

My headcanons can and will be M rated. As I said above, many of my headcanons relate to the characters as adults, so it is to be expected. There will be nothing explicit however. If there are any relevant CWs, I will make sure to warn people properly on the post itself. I am mostly putting this on top so you all are aware!! I will be following Writers Workshop's guidelines for writing and Art Gallery's guidelines for my doodles. (This blog is also not a replacement for my art thread, I'm just a visual person lol.)
My headcanon doesn't invalidate your headcanon. You might feel differently about the characters! That's perfectly fine!! These are my personal interpretations of the characters and they in no way take away from your headcanons.
Canon is extremely loose for me. Especially with regards to the timeline! I might say something that goes against what you might see on Bulbapedia for example. I am absolutely aware of the canon, but in these cases I have elected to ignore it or interpret it differently. Feel free to ask me questions about it, but please don't correct me about the canon. (Unless its like, particularly egregious. For example: me saying that Pikachu's ability is Intimidate or something lol.)
My headcanons are queer. I don't think this will be a problem, but I am a shipper and most of the characters in my headcanon are some flavor of queer to me. That's pretty much it.
My headcanons will change over time. You probably don't want to hear my edgy headcanons from 15 years ago lmao. I like to think my headcanons aren't set in stone, and they can evolve over time. I might say one thing one day and the next day I might say another thing. I will try to stay some what consistent, but its not too serious imho. Don't worry about it too much.

The main focus of this blog are the characters and the characters relationships with one another. There will be both romantic and platonic ships in here so please be aware! Here's a list of ships that you should expect to see: (Will be updated!!)

Notes:
  • For the Kantrio specifically, I made their ages based on the amount of time between the release of Gen 1 and now. I'm basing this off of Red/Blue's appearance in Sun and Moon with them being approx. 20-21 years old in those games. (Why?? Vibes. Nothing more or less.)
  • Brendan and May are 12 during their journeys, so I made them slightly older than the Kantrio.
  • The rest of them I'm working off the assumption that they were also 12 years old at the start of their journeys.
  • I also tried fitting them into the same school calendar years. Specifically: the Japanese school calendar which starts in April.
  • Their birthdays are based on the release dates for their respective games! I tried spacing them out, but I also thought it might be funny/real to have some of them overlap (Like Brendan and Silver.)
  • All except Red and Leaf who's birthdays are based on the original release date of Red and Green in Japan before it was bumped to February. Also, they are twins!! Red is 8 minutes older than Leaf. :bulbaCute:

Also their starters and favorite type (Why not?)

Red: Bulbasaur and Electric
Blue: Charmander and Flying
Leaf: Squirtle and Poison

Ethan: Cyndaquil and Fire
Silver: Totodile (stolen) and Dark
Kris: Chikorita and Psychic
Lyra: Marill and Fairy (As a professional Pokemon breeder, she eventually owns all the starters in some capacity)

Brendan: Treeko and Dragon
May: Torchic and Rock
Wally: Ralts and Fighting (Although, he eventually gets Mudkip from Birch.)

Dawn: Piplup and Steel
Lucas: Chimchar and Normal
Barry: Turtwig and Bug

I wanna expand on my jobs post in the Game Protagonist Headcanons thread! This one includes the Gen 3/4 protags, rivals and how they're all connected to one another.

Red: Security Software Developer for Silph Co, Section Chief of the Porygon Project. Indigo League Elite Four member.
Blue: Pokemon Professor, Adjunct lecturer at Celadon University. Focuses on Climate Change's effects on Pokemon habitats. Viridian City Gym Leader (He quit and came back.)
Leaf: Collection Manager for the Pewter Museum of Science, Also knows how to restore fossils. She also worked on the Pokedex app with Jacq and Clavell

Ethan: Graphic Designer for Goldenrod Department Store, also freelances. He did the design work on the Pokedex App.
Silver: Principal Dancer for Ecruteak Dance Theater, she also teaches classes there. Indigo League Champion.
Kris: Postdoc researcher at Celadon University, Blue was her thesis advisor. Researches Shiny Pokemon. Tower Tycoon of Johto's Battle Tower.
Lyra: Professional Pokemon Breeder at Self-Employed. Ethan designed her business cards.

May: Pokemon Professor, Teaches at the Trainer's School in Rustboro. Works a lot with Blue as habitats are also her field of research.
Brendan: Aerospace Engineer, he designs satellites. Hoenn League Champion.
Wally: Video editor for Hoenn TV, specifically their newscasts. Mauville City Gym Leader.

Dawn: Carpenter, has been helping to restore old Hisuian era buildings in Jubilife. Wants to go to school to become an architect.
Lucas: Librarian at Canalave Library, knows Leaf through some GLAM worker listservs.
Barry: Professional Wrestler, he's a heel known as "Floatzel Special" who's a scumbag landlord and fines people for being late on everything Sinnoh League Champion. Of course he keeps up the Kayfabe.

Since you can assign yourself a trainer class in a few of the gens, I thought it would be fun to think about the protags and rivals if they had a trainer class that wasn't just "PKMN Trainer."

So here's me assigning Trainer Classes to them based on my headcanons lol:

Red: Super Nerd
Green: Ace Trainer
Leaf: Lass

Ethan: Camper
Kris: Picnicker
Silver: PokeManiac
Lyra: Idol

May: Battle Girl
Brendan: Swimmer
Wally: Ninja Boy

Dawn: Cowgirl
Lucas: School Kid
Barry: Bug Catcher

I just rewatched the new trailer for OPLA season two and I totally forgot that I gave the Kantrio and Johto Four headcanon favorite OP characters

Red: Tony Tony Chopper, he has a soft spot for cute mascot characters.
Green: Donquixote Doflamingo, does a spot on impression of him.
Leaf: Boa Hancock, would be obliterated by the Mero Mero no Mi

Ethan: Roronoa Zoro, because he's normie.
Silver: Franky, finds him charming
Kris: Trafalgar Law, finds him incredibly relatable. (Specifically, that she keeps being put into Situations.)
Lyra: Nekomamushi, Nekomamushi no dan' na ni ai ni ikou Nekomamushi no dan' na ni ai ni ikou.

Also while I have the Google Doc open, I really enjoyed how Haikyuu's character pages had the characters "Current Worries" on them. So I thought about the Kantrio's and the Johto Four's current worries as well:

Red: Feels likes he works from home too much, being an E4 member is not a valid excuse.
Green: Not enough people are worried about Cursola appearing in the Hoenn region. It’s an ecological disaster waiting to happen.
Leaf: She needs to get her passport renewed soon and she kind of doesn’t want to because it's ONLY been what? 2 years? (It's almost been 10 years.)

Ethan: Oh man, work really wants me to learn this generative AI thing? Hahah…
Silver: Why is there so much paperwork? Does she really need to fill out a report for every Full Restore she uses? aughghfkjh.
Kris: Her thesis advisor (Green) is never in his office during his scheduled office hours. This doesn't worry her as much as it annoys her.
Lyra: What? Her worry? I guess there’s the Cursola problem… Otherwise things are just peachy!

OK, time to address the timeline lol.

IMHO is looks like this.

FRLG - B2W2 is about 10 years
B2W2 - ZA is exactly 5 years

So, with that in mind, I've adjusted the ages of the characters slightly. Their new ages are below:

Red, 26, December 21st (Sagittarius, Fraxure)
Blue, 26, February 27th (Pisces, Alomomola)

This is all conjecture on my part, but my thought is that the time lapsed between Gen 1-9 is about 15 years, which is half IRL time with the 30th and all. But that's just what I'm doing in my 'verse and all lol.

It also means that the Red/Green are just a bit older when they go to Alola then I thought they'd be lol. Still puts them squarely in their early to mid 20s though.

Honestly I never expected them to give us the exact timeskip between XY and ZA so the last week or so has been really funny for that.

I'm gonna update this blog with one more thing ZA related a bit later today, but I wanted to address this first lol.

Green and May: Why you should care about the Corsola and dispelling Mareanie misinformation.
Green again (With Dexio and Sina): Mega Evolution and Z-Moves: A Surprisingly Squishy Connection.
Silver: Creating a Modern Pokemon League for the Rotom Phone age.
Kris (With Green staring like an Evil Intimdating Galarian Rapidash in the corner): The Beautiful Pokemon: Shiny Pokemon and their relationship to Mega energy.
Lyra: Breeding for regional differences and the lost art of the Pokemon Day Care.
Dawn and Lucas: A Really Quick Primer on Alpha Pokemon. (And How Not To Die.)
Red: Declined invitation and went to a Canari fan meetup instead. Jacinthe has his location. She's coming for his ass in the Battle Zone that night.

Also I wanna add that bios are FINALLY coming. The reason why I've been getting stuck is the feeling I need to draw something to go along with it. And thats. Kind of silly? So expect some text heavy posts veeeery soon.
