[Preview/Talkback] Phantom Thief Bannai and the Ribbon Cup!! (SPOILERS)

Smoke clears as Haruka stares. The Ribbon Cup is missing! The theif left his calling card... It's up to Officer Junsar to solve the case.

In the next scene, we see Bannai quietly laughing to himself. Is he looking on, or is this a look into Junsar's mind?

Using the best equipment, Junsar, Haruka, and her friends, are looking for clues, along with one of the Contest judges. We see him holding the Ribbon Cup, or something like it, which gets a response out of Haruka.

In the next scene, we see a Golbat, and then in a seperate scene, Musashi, Kojirou, and Nyarth disguised as custodians.

Cut to the next scene, where we see two Junsars. Oh, wait! One is Bannai in disguise, along with his evil Metamon, flying away with a jetpack. Luckily Junsar's Guardie, and Satoshi's Pikachu, are stopping Bannai in his tracks with attacks of their types (Fire and Electric).

Haruka = May
Junsar = Jenny
Musashi, Kojirou, and Nyarth = Jesse, James, and Meowth
Metamon = Ditto
Guardie = Growlithe
Satoshi = Ash

I'm mildly surprised they didn't give Officer Jenny a more Hoenn specific doggy-sh Pokemon like Electrike or Poochyena.

And I've always liked the idea of seeing one with a Snubull. Because it would be funny.

But we haven't seen Growlithe in ages either, so it's all good.

When was the last time you saw Officer Jenny? I think it's the Gulpin episode and if that's the case... why has it taken them that long to put in back into the story? I like Officer Jenny.

I've noticed something weird in the preview. First, that mark below Bannai's right eye is red, but near the end of the preview it is suddenly green. A paint error?

The second picture is a flashback to the Weather Institute episode.

Aqua and Magma have both disbanded. I hope we get to see what happens when J&J call the Boss to report this. (Especially if, as seems likely, they try to claim credit for it.)

As expected, Brock was able to tell which Jenny was the real one. I especially liked the way he threw Bannai's catchphrase ("Reality isn't limited to what you can see") back at him when asked how he could tell.

Poor Brock, reduced to a Bannai detector. It's more of a role than he's had lately.

When Jenny spray-painted the Pokeball gold, it reminded me of the Magikarp salesman's first appearance with the "solid gold" Pokeball.

Wow... that ep really sucked. ^^

Bannai was cool, but damn, there was nothing in this ep. He stole the trophy, they try to catch him, they fail, they try to catch him again, they still fail 'cause TR nicks it instead. Bannai flies off...

*yawn*

The battle with TR for the cup was also totally unimpressive and left the ep kinda just feeling totally incomplete.

The only good part of it was Brock and his magical knowledge of Jennys and Joys. But damn, even THAT was seen from a mile away.

Oh man. There are a million things they could do with that scene. Complete with fantasy illustrations:

James: "Then they summoned the mighty Sea Gods! Kyoga and Whatitsface!"

Jessie: "But of course we were not afraid!"

Meowth: "Being big, bad agents of Team Rocket!"

Jessie: "With my mighty powers, I cast away the creatures into the depths of the sea!"

James: "And I single-handedly fought off an army of Pokemon!"

Meowth: "And with my fabulous Fury Swipes, 1000 members of Aqua and Magma were sent cryin' to dere mamas!"

Yeah this episode was definately NOT one of the better ones. This is a perfect example of a 'filler' episode. No real Plot, no real point (besides Haruka getting brownie points from the contest judge/coordinator).

Is it just me or did Junsa-san voice sound different?

It's the normal Nishimura Chinami, although she might be a bit out of practice.

Okay.....Bannai gets a even weirder costume. I think we can assume Bannai has a dream.

Anyway, did Meowth say "Bonjour" when they flew off with the Ribbon Cup. It sounded like he said that and I swear he said it last episode as well. Glad too see Jenny and some older Pokemon too. And I must say the inside of the ship looked pretty well animated.

Meowth: "And den I walked up to Archie and Maxie. And was like 'Ya maddas so fat she makes Groundon look like its anorexic!"
James: "And then I delivered a right hook! Pow, in the kisser!"
Jessie: "And then we were like 'Team Rocket Rulz!"

Not the animation of inside the ship that I was watching... In one scene they're standing in front of some pool tables for about 40 seconds or so whilst trying to lure out Bannai, behind them are people playing pool - only they're not. They're standing dead still. For 40 seconds.

The rest of the scene was the same. It was incredibly lazy.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that Gonbe was added to the ending; or are you guys just not watching?

I didn't pay that much attention during the ending credits. So, they're still updating the ending after each new Pokemon, I like that.

Oh, one small question. (As far as I could follow the episode) Why did Bannai simply gave that Ribbon Cup back? I was expecting that he wouldn't hand that over without a fight.

O_______________________________O

I CHECKED that for Gonbe... Though, I was checking for animation to jump in front of May like Ash and Brock's do...

How did I miss that?

And Yes, Bannai simply gave the cup back. Well, he threw it at Jenny and flew away and then TR nicked it before Jenny could get it.

*Still can't believe he missed Gonbe*....

I'm a bit disappointed that Gonbe wasn't edited in better. The first shot is a copy-and-paste of a pose from AG 118 (its capture episode), and I suspect the second is, as well. The first one just looks plain awkward.
