Preview is up, and they're battling in a real Contest. Other coordinators are there.

Ash appeals with Pikachu. May appeals with Eevee.

The battle is Sceptile Vs. Combusken. Combusken looks badly beaten near the end of the preview and begins to glow...

Can you say Sceptile Vs. Blaziken? I sure can!

w00t! :D

OOOOOOOOOOOR Combusken makes up a brand new attack to learn like it has the last..... 3 times? we've been in this exact same position.

It'd be nice if it did actually evolve this time though, lol. I'd also be a bit annoyed if May beat Ash like she did Brock in the same way. Though Combusken vs Sceptile or Blaziken vs Sceptile is no-where near as cheating hax as Eevee beating Marshtomp by doing the exact same thing that had been resulting in it's ass getting kicked for the rest of the match beforehand....

Unless Combusken/Blaziken wins by doing the exact same thing as it had been doing the entire match - that obviously wasn't working as it was losing - and pulls a win out of it's ass.

In which case, May needs to just leave the show for that fact alone - cheating Sharker Hax. :p

It definitely looks like it's evolving this time though. The glow is exactly the same as evolution ones and isn't anything like the Mega Kick or Overheat ones.

Treecko and Torchic evolved into their second stages not too far apart in Hoenn. Since Grovyle evolved into Sceptile in mid-BF, it was only logical for Combusken to follow suit soon enough.

Combusken has been in just as many battles as Sceptile, and with the evolution it'll give it near equal strength, so this is going to be a damn good battle unless the writers screw it up.

Well, it certainly looks like Combusken may evolve. Wouldn't it have to be poised in order to aim an attack? It looked overwhelmed.

It looks like the light of evolution. Random contest, wiiiii! Or is it? Some kind of prize seems to be given to whoever wins the contest.

Man, from what the preview shows Ash and Pikachu make a pretty darn cool appeal.

And my money is on evolution, why else would poor Combusken be matched against Ash's strongest Hoenn Pokémon.

What I want to know is WHY Ash and May are competing in this contest. If they wanted to fight eachother why didn't they just battle?? Entering this contest is completly pointless for both of them. May already entered the GF, what is she going to do with a 6th Kanto ribbon? What is Ash going to do with a ribbon; give it to his mom or something? And besides that, I'd say May and Ash entering isn't even fair, really. Ash isn't a co-ordinator, and probably has no future plans to compete in the Kanto GF or any other, and May already competed in it; there enrollment in the contest takes away the chance for other trainers to enter (and possibly win); trainers who might NEED the ribbon in the contest for entry into the next GF. Contests need to adopt some sort of screening process, I think ^^.

They're entering a Contest to kill time.

From what I gather, they headed to a port so May/Max can return to Hoenn. The ferry doesn't come for a while, and May sees a Contest and decides to compete for fun.

Since she already finished the GF, Ash decides to compete too because he won't be interfering with her goal, (since the Kanto GF is done), so they both agree to compete against each other.

It's great that in the BF arc we've seen may take on both Brock AND Ash in contests, even if this contest is just a random one, it'll be wonderful to see how Ash does the appeal and such :3

And yes, Combusken glowing certainly looks like an evolution. Funny, back when she got Torchic, I could never picture her with a Combusken and a Blaziken, but it'll be wonderful to see it get to the last stage of it's evolution near the end of AG :3

I LOVE your avatar PDU!

Yeah, I honestly never thought we'd see May with a Blaziken....even less then thinking we'd see Brock with a Marshtomp.

Thanks~! :3

Yeah, I could never see Brock with a Marshstomp either, I was hoping it would stay a Mudkip XD

I freakin hate WMP, it NEVER works for me on that site, so I can't see the preview...

I thot that was Combusken's special ability, Blaze!

Or at least Pokeani think they do. That thread confused me on Pokeani. They also seem to think Hikari gets all three starters.
