Do you guys remember your first ever, I mean ever, Pokemon game? You know, the one your parents surprised you with one day after school in first grade, or the one you received for your seventh birthday?

C'mon, I'm sure you must have some memory of that. [: It's kind of like a childhood milestone to some. xD

What was your first ever Pokemon game? What are some memories you have of playing it? What are your opinions of how it's changed?

Discuss anything relating to the topic. [:

(I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but I checked the other threads in this forum, and I didn't see any. Correct me if I'm wrong!)

I don't remember my FIRST, but I remember VERY vividly coming out of Wal-Mart and tearing open my Pokemon Yellow box and all filled with fangirl glee already. :p

My first was Blue. Montgomery Ward's put on a 'going out of business' sale and my dad picked it up. I had NO clue what it was, but played it once...and the rest is history.

I fell off the wagon after Blue and Silver (my brother had Red and Gold), but a few months ago picked up Diamond....and it's all gone right back to where I started. Fangirl once more!

I bought Blue when it was still relatively new, the game had a different feel back then than it did now, but whatever. I played it, and got really attached, then stopped cuz it got boring.

I picked up Diamond mainly out of curiosity to see how the game has evolved, and the fact that the longevity of the game got increased because of online play.

Blue was my first one too. I still play it from time to time. ^^ My mom's amazed that it still works, and even more amazed that I still like it.. xD

Sounds exactly like how I was when my mom surprised me with two little boxes when I was six or seven. (Bet'cha can't guess what was inside 'em. xD)

Now that you mention it, I'm starting to get a bit curious about how the game has evolved as well. I haven't played anything since Crystal version, surely it's changed a lot since then.. o.o At least, that's what it looked like when I watch my friend play.

My first Pokemon game was the Crystal version that came alone in a bundle with the GBA (not SP) in around 2003. I've mildly played the other Pokemon games from my cousins, and I fell in love of it. With Crystal finished, I kind of went off the loop at the start of the third gen, since the mindset of a sixth/seventh grader is that they're too cool for Pokemon now.

After three years of being out of the Pokemon loop, I started watching the anime just before PUSA took over, and I was hooked again. As soon as I played my sister's boyfriend's brother's(lol) copy of Emerald, I knew that I was getting the next Pokemon game. Mystery Dungeon Red (I didn;t have a DS yet) shortly came out and I bought it and played through the story (I still need to do all the side-quest though =/),and anticipated the release of Diamond/Pearl.

DP came out and the rest is history.

I used to play my friends games all the time, with any excuse. But then, on my 10th Birthday, My dad surprised me with the most oddly-shaped present ever. It was a GameBoy Color with a copy of Pokemon Gold (wrapped together giving the present its weird shape.) I freaking crash-tackled him. I played it absolutely constantly, never went through a phase of not liking it (although starting high school made me hide it for a while) and the rest is history.

It's weird. My mom used to work for Toys R Us, and she brought home Blue for me. I was 11, and really had no idea what Pokemon was at the time. I just remember it was mid-to-late september 1998. It took like two or three months to really get hooked... and it was all downhill from there!

I received a large box for a christmas present from my parents. I unwrapped it and it was a ham box. My dad gets a ham every christmas for some reason...anyway...so, I opened the box to see a silver gameboy pocket...and Red and Blue versions. I was completly estatic. I remember immedietly getting up and sitting on the couch reading the box and opening it up.

I however...forgot to save a few times, so I would get somewhere and I would just turn the game off. I chose Charmander every time.

I loved that Charizard...he was my only level 100 Pokemon I trained from level 5. I've only had two level 100 Pokemon I've raised from a low level: Charizard and Ambipom. Charizard could take out any Pokemon...even those level 132 freaks from Cinabar Island.

I lost that Charizard to my adapter falling out of the wall one night...I was very upset.

I got Pokemon Yellow in February 2000, so it was getting close to the end of the first gen. I got into pokemon because I happened on the anime the year before and was instantly hooked. (It was the ep which this forum is named for) After that, it was all history. I never left Pokemon in all that time, and have personally witnessed the hypes for both the third and fourth gens. I did not know the pokemon community when the second gen came out, sorry. The fourth gen is the only one I was with since its beginning, though.

My first was Yellow. I was attracted to it by a Pikachu.
Damn Eevee... It was really hard to beat it.

My first was Red in January 2000, but I didn't play it much for two months after I got it because I had no idea how to get out of the character's room (yeah, kinda pathetic, I know). Somehow I finally figured it out after I played my sister's Blue a bit (she was so pissed), and started leveling up the Charmander who would later become Ash, my first Pokemon and the first I got to level 100. I leveled him from 65 to 100 in Gold. I never dedicated so much time to leveling up a Pokemon before! I was so proud. And I was so, so depressed when my Gold fell on the floor at my grandma's house and I lost the entire game. Poor Ash. I named my female Charizard's first offspring in his honor.

Hah, when my sister gave me Blue because she wasn't interested anymore, I kept bringing it to school to show my two friends, who loved Pokemon. Being naive sixth graders, we got a kick out of starting new games and naming the player character, the rival and the Pokemon stuff like "ASSHOLE" and "BASTARD" and "BUTTMUNCH". Good times.

Yellow version. My first handheld game ever. I had trouble with he entering my name thing since I didn't see the "end" option, I also accidentally nicknamed my Pikachu and got stuck in veridian forest. I restarted than played through.

I always used to play my brother's blue. Then on christmas, I opened a present - it was a gameboy color. I opened yet another - it was pokemon silver. I played the game every day to it's death, and miss it so much(R.I.P. Typhlosion, died at lvl 100).

That's what happened to me. xD It took me a few days to figure out how to get out of the room, and another while to figure out that the weird looking bar thingy at the bottom of the screen was a doorway.. n_n;;

Yellow. I got it along with a transparant purple Game Boy Color, Wario Land II, and A Bug's Life. Not quite sure what time of the year it was... but I do know that I ended up with Red and Blue the following Christmas.

Anyway. I was rather well-versed to Pokémon prior to actually receiving it, as I lived on a cul-de-sac filled with boys my age, all Pokécrazed. So I knew Red and Blue up and down before playing my own game.

That's cool! My cousin has one of those transparent purple ones, too. [:

My first game was Blue Version. I got it about a month after getting a Game Boy Color. It was a gift from a relative as I was really in to the anime at that time. Some time after that, I got Gold. I remember that Gold was the first game I ever beat(I couldn't beat Blue). I continued through 3rd gen, and here I am. I never went through a time of not playing, and I've gotten every game but Leaf Green.
