I even never seen Pikachu gets inflated into a balloon what I sent a letter to studio.

I can't believe he's gone. (Crying)
If you actually did this that's hillarious

Technically, yes or close to that amount. TPCi said that this mini series will be dubbed as being "11 very special episodes" of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series.
Figured it'd count as part of Journeys for the dub. I'd guessed it might be called Final Journeys if they gave it it's own name. I assume they will change the OP though, as the footage featuring Goh will be obsolete.

So does this mean whoever said JN had 16 more episodes left was correct?
In addition with what the others said, if we remove from these 16 episodes the 4 clip-show that the dub will skip, we have 12 episodes which amounts to this mini-series + JNS05, so the numbers match up.

I'm going to be honest, I'm surprised at how emotional this announcement has made me.

Before today's episode aired, I really had no idea what was coming next, but in the back of my mind I figured Satoshi would still stick around. Especially after the comments made about his adventure continuing. But it's crazy to me that in just a few months his story, as well as Musashi's, Kojiro's, and Nyarth's, will be over. I think it is still likely we won't be fully done with these characters- I could see a special popping up a year or two down the line- but having their stories end here is still shocking. I'm going to stay optimistic and hope this series is overall satisfying. I know Pocket Monsters '19 was disappointing for a lot of people, myself included, so I hope this series is a way to send these characters out on a high note.

I am glad the production team is going with an epilogue min-series. I think trying to tack on any kind of meaningful ending to this 25-year story to the end of any series would be impossible. Though I am a bit disappointed this series looks more or less identical to Pocket Monsters '19 in terms of visuals. I don't dislike that series' art direction- I actually think it suits Satoshi the best compared to any older series, except maybe the original Kanto episodes- but I wish they had modified it a bit to make it stand out on its own. Especially for the Rocket trio- I will forever be bummed out their last two appearances will be their XY designs and their PM19 designs!
At the very least I wish Satoshi had gotten a new outfit. I don't love the outfit to begin with, but it would have been nice to have a new one. I have the same problem I did with the first Sun&Moon Kasumi and Takeshi episodes- having them in their original Kanto outfits with Satoshi in his current one is jarring. I wish they had all just gotten new outfits, like modern redesigns of their original clothes.

I'm honestly most disappointed we aren't getting Miyazaki back for this series. I don't hate the new music, but it does not fit the vibe of this show, especially for an epilogue series that's seemingly going down memory lane. I really hope they throw in some nostalgic pieces here and there.

Some other stray thoughts:
  • This is 11 episodes, I'm assuming they will air weekly? The reason I ask is because I see a lot of people on Twitter and Tumblr saying "Ash's story is ending January 13!!", but that doesn't make sense. This series is starting on January 13th, but it would end in March, right? Which aligns with the new series starting in April.
  • Speaking of which, assuming it airs weekly and there are no breaks during this series (which is something Pocket Monsters '19 hasn't been able to manage for awhile lol), the last episode will air Friday, March 24. If it goes just one week further, it would end on March 31, which would be exactly one day short of ending 26 years after Satoshi first stated his journey.
  • So obviously Kasumi and Takeshi are here, but I'm split on if the rest of Satoshi's friends will be in this. In an ideal world, each friend group would have one episode dedicated to them, but I understand logistically that's easier said than done. I'll be surprised if Haruka or Dent have speaking parts in this series, but I guess it isn't impossible.
  • My god, do I love this new cover of Aim to be a Pokemon Master. I need the full version ASAP! I'm really excited to see the animation that will go along with it. Will they pull a One Piece 1000th episode and just reanimate OP1?
  • Please, please, please let the Rocket trio have a nice sendoff. With 11 episodes, I don't think it's too much to expect them to have one episode dedicated to them. They've been the longest-running characters in this show behind Satoshi, they deserve at least that much, especially with their terrible showing these past few years. I hope they are in every episode, but if they get a truly satisfying ending I'll be okay with them missing one or two episodes. I don't know what exactly I want from their ending, but I just hope they all stick together as a family. I would also love a sentimental ending between them and Satoshi, but that might be too much to ask lol
  • Speaking of the Rockets, for the love of all that is good and pure in this world please, please, please don't make their motto stock animation this time. There are only 11 flipping episodes, and this is one of the largest multimedia franchises on the planet. I am sure there are funds to go to animating a 30 second motto sequence 5-6 times. At the very least, I do not want to hear their stupid PM19 motto music. Give us the original theme, give us the XY remix, give us a new remix, just not the PM19 version...
  • Will we finally get a release of the BW-SM soundtrack??
  • I've all but given up on the dub at this point, but a tiny part of me holds out hope these episodes won't be completely botched. I do think it's funny that, like with Satoshi's Alola league win and his World Championship, TPCi has given up on trying to avoid spoiling the show to their fans. I do truly feel for dub fans that are trying to follow the show without being spoiled, y'all were done dirty. I'm sure this will probably air in the US in like August/September next year, which is a real shame.

I know I'll be a mess when this finally ends, but I'm really looking forward to it!

Honestly, I'm still not sure if even Ash defeating Leon was planned from the start. The dub emphasizing that his goal was to battle against Leon, not defeat, always felt like they were providing themselves some wiggle room. Granted, I don't know if that was accurate to the Japanese version, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't initially plan this to be Ash's last series as the main lead. Journeys itself just doesn't feel well planned enough for that to be their goal from the start. It most likely wasn't a last minute change since planning out a new series, new character designs and even getting this mini series off the ground would take time and planning, but I wouldn't be surprised if that only started to take form around halfway through the series.

I think the biggest indication to where Journeys was heading lied with the very first Pokémon that Ash caught in the series: Dragonite. Not a Galar Starter or a Galar bird. It was a pseudo-legendary Pokémon and fully evolved to boot. And it's not even a Galar promotional Pokémon, so the only reason why Ash caught a Dragonite this early was to beef up Ash's team to Champion level. And Ash caught Dragonite in JN010, two episodes before Leon's debut and the introduction of the World Coronation Tournament in JN012. Then four episodes later, Ash caught Gengar.

I don't think they would be giving Ash all these powerful and popular Pokémon early on if they weren't planning for Ash to beat Leon.

I would love to see Jessie reunited with Miyamoto. They seemed to reference her in the Mew episode so maybe not all hope is lost.
Wait they did? Can anyone please expand?…

Yeah the moment Ash's first captures were a fully evolved Dragonite and Gengar, I think they always had a plan of giving him a powerhouse team

So do you think they'll finally address the GS Ball. This is the last chance to pull that trigger.
I think it's unlikely, but nothing is 100% impossible at this point.

As I'm personally looking forward to the Latias encounter, if it really is the same one from Pokémon Heroes, I am having a small, teeny bit of hope that Ash could catch her. Based on the scene in the preview, I wouldn't be surprised if Latias was there to save Ash from something.

I am curious on if this will just be exploration and revisiting old Pokemon and friends or if there will be any final battles.
C'mon Ash, show you are truly the strongest trainer by fighting god

No, if they have Ash catch a Legendary in these episodes, I bet it's going to be Ho-Oh, in the very last one. Like, the very last scene of the last episode will be of Ho-Oh allowing itself to be caught in one of Ash's Poke Balls, having judged him worthy of being its Trainer after following him around all this time.

Also, am I the only one who thinks they might reveal who Ash's dad is during this arc?

This is the moment to finally let team rocket end and go after their own goals. Like that episode in which Meowth was working at a restaurant and Jessie was going full coordinator.

I'm surprised they remembered her Azurill.
I'm surprised it's still an Azurill at all! I mean, I get they were going for the whole Togepi replacement thing when it first debuted, but that was well over 15 years ago at this point. Plus, Azurill evolves into the type Misty's all about, the Water type. You'd think it would have been a no-brainer for Azurill to have evolved by now considering that. But, I guess not. Oh well.

Definitely. They've never really been villains anyway, and since Ash is leaving, I'd say there's a very strong chance the TRio is too.
