Of course! I caught one on my Pearl and raised it to an Ambipom when I should have been raising my team to take down the Elite 4, one of the reasons why it took me longer than it should have to take them down. I was excited to catch Aipom and he even had the ability Pick Up, one time he picked up a Rare Candy.
