Al-Qaida supporters suggested in a Web site message this week they would welcome a pre-election terror attack on the U.S. as a way to usher in a McCain presidency.

The message was posted Monday on the password-protected al-Hesbah Web site. It says if al-Qaida wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain is the better choice.

It says that's because he's more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

SITE Intelligence Group, based in Bethesda, Md., monitors the Web site and translated the message.

The al-Qaida posting says an attack on the U.S. would push Americans to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaida, a fight the radicals would welcome.

Mark Salter, a senior McCain adviser, said he had heard about the Web site chatter but had no immediate comment.

The message is credited to a frequent and apparently respected contributor named Muhammad Haafid.

However, Haafid is not believed to have a direct affiliation with al-Qaida plans or knowledge of its operations, according to SITE.

SITE senior analyst Adam Raisman said this message caught SITE's attention because there has been little other chatter on the forums about the U.S. election.

SITE said it was struck by the message's detailed analysis, and apparent jubilation, about American financial woes.

"What we try to do is get the pulse of the jihadist community," Raisman said. "And it's about the financial crisis."

Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden issued a videotape just four days before the 2004 U.S. presidential election directly addressing the American people.

Wow, this is the opposite of what everyone was expecting.

Unfortunately, this is the truth of it.
Evkl was being sarcastic.

Actually, since McCain wants to continued Bush's foreign policy which has been so hard on the terrorists, this doesn't surprise me. It's like Hamas endorsing Obama because he wasn't talking about wiping Iran off the map.

I am aware.

It's still the truth. And to be honest, I doubt this will get very far. It depends on what the liberal media does tomorrow.

Of course. Because Republicans are the real Americans. The true enemy of Al-Qaeda. Democrats? They're the enablers.

Well, from what I've garnered from various sources, it seems Al-Qaeda is pissed at the US over the whole Israel ordeal. Of course, maybe people might be more willing to listen to them if they weren't crazy, but then again that could be said of any political view.

And frankly, I hate how politics has to muddle truth under all that "left-wing/right-wing" crap.

It's still the truth.

And you know the truth of what Al Qaida means how, exactly?

I can see two possible way for you to know the truth, and one would get you busted for participation in a terrorist organization and the other for violating seventy shades of security clearance.

I'm fairly confident you are doing neither of these...

What is this liberal media of which you speak? Does it include Fox and whatever radio stations air Limbaugh? Does it include Hannity?

The liberal media would be stuff like MSNBC, The New York Times, CBS, and ABC. CNN I've learned is fairly evenhanded (Aside from their recent interview screwup, which they have yet to apologize for) but it may hinge on if the liberal commentators mention it or not. The same can be said of Fox as can be said of CNN.

It's baffling to see the hatred being poured on Fox News. They're admonished for supposedly being conservative, when most of the rest of the media is liberal. If you really want to scream and shout about Fox News, then you should also scream and shout at MSNBC.

Obviously! Geeze!
I mean, it's not like it makes sense that They'd want McCain to use all of America's Resources in Iraq. There is just too many people from Al Qaida in Iraq for that to make sense for them to want US in there!

Grrr! Liberals!

Liberals ain't real 'Mericans! They're damn hippies from Communist Russia an' worship Marx and Marijuana instead of Jesus!

Hmm, Liberal according to Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary means "one who is not strict in observance of orthodox, traditional or established forms or ways." Oh yeah, we're tolerant too.

Good traits for a forum moderator.

the only reason there doing this is because Mc'Cains going to waste all of our money in iraq and thats when they'll strike when were too poor to do ANYTHING

I think I already explained on MSNBC the pundits are treated as pundits and opinion is presented as opinion. On Faux News, the pundits are passed off as journalists and opinion is passed off as news. Murdock has devalued journalism and that's why so many people hate him and his properties.

It's not the terrorists that bother me about this though. It's Russia and China and whoever else that seems itching to take advantage of our stupidity and gun-slinging. I make it a point not to fear people who learned how to blow up a car. I am deeply concerned about nations with the actual resources and desire to take us down a notch.

Russia and China are not stupid nations though. Unfair and cruel, yes, but not stupid. They won't launch any sort of attack on the U.S, because on the long run it won't benefit them (at least now). The world economy is held up by U.S economy, I don't think they would try to run it down.
