i need another special sweeper on my team. Alakazam, Gengar, or both?
please serious criticism, no Gengar fanboys vs. Alakazam fanboys.

Gengar due to better typing and Explosion. It can simply switch into more and has a slightly better movepool. Both are vulnerable to priority and Pursuit.

i might use Alakazam as a special sweeper and Gengar as an exploder, then.

does the move Explosion take the Attack stat into account, since it is a physical attack?
would it be worth switching Gengar for someone with a higher Attack stat?

gengar is a bad choice for just being an exploder.....bronzong and metagross are the 2 best exploders just make them jolly and give them a choice scarf...also gengar is a better special sweeper than alakazam because of it having levitate to switch in on ground attacks and it can also have destiny bond.

edit: yes explosion takes into account the attack stat...which is why i dont use explosion on gengar

The thing is that both of the things you mentioned aren't very good as pure special sweepers but Gengar is less easily walled because of it. Yes, Explosion is a physical move but Gengar can deal by running Hasty to give it a tad bit more power.

It's never a good idea to have something purely for the purpose of Exploding; I see it more as a safety net for when things in a match go bad.

-sigh- okay i'll see what i can do.
also, anyone know of an exceptionally good wall?
i already have Umbreon, i was thinking Steelix. :3

You sort of need to tell us your whole team.

this should DEFINATELY be in the simple questions thread.
