Ok, this question stems from a discussion I was recently having after watching 'Power Play'... would you consider 'Alex Davis from Cherrygrove City' (AKA the Alakazam trainer who battles Gary) to have the worst dub voice ever? I was arguing against it, as I think we got way worse dub voices over the years (P Morrison and Jump from the Hoenn League spring into my mind) but the person I was talking with insisted it was the worst he's ever had to sit through.

And while I'm on the subject... what is up with that voice anyway? Accents in the dub are rare enough anyway, but this kid sounds like he was being portrayed by... well, a kid. Everywhere says that his VA was Kayzie Rogers but it doesn't sound anything like a voice in her range, plus the fact that he has an accent, has a surname and the fact that the voice doesn't match the trainer at all (the voice is that of a pre-puberty child while the appearance is that of a teenager) makes me think there's a larger story behind it. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Thanks. I knew there was something unusual about the voice.

I still maintain that Jump had the worst dub voice.

I have to agree with you on that. he did have a weird voice. It sounded like a actual kid.

It's prob the same type of thing with Stephanie (a girl that get's a starter with her dad a episode) of hoenn. She also sounded like a child.

Ah, that voice always did sound very jarring to me, mainly because you could tell that it actually was a real kid doing it, with an authentic accent. I figured that there might be a story to it.

I don't personally remember M&S ever doing a contest with a prize as amazing as getting to voice a character in the dub, but maybe it was only limited to a few select stores.

I'm surprised 4Kids would even hold the contest in the U.K. rather than the U.S.A. They could have easily promoted it on Kids' WB. The only reason I could think of would be that they wanted the accent.
