I went to see "Alice in Wonderland" today, and it was truly superb.I give it five out of five stars, because it remained true to parts of the original Alice story, and added amazing bits of what it would be like if Alice went back to Wonderland.

Ahh I already watched it and it was amazingg <3
and yes, it reminded me of the original story which was one of my favorite things about it. I want to see it again :D

It was awful. All Burton did was take the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and switch out the Narnian characters for Alice ones:

The Pensive Children - Alice
The White Queen - The Red Queen
Aslan - The White Queen
Mr. Tumnus - The Mad Hatter
The Doormouse - Reepicheep (Yes, I know he' from another Narnia, book, doesn't change that they wholesale ripped off his character)

And so forth.

It had not an ounce of the whimsy or surreal dream logic of the books.

Go watch Narnia, it's a better adaptation of the same story.

If you enjoy Alice in Wonderland, don't see this movie - it doesn't get what Alice was all about.

If you enjoy Narnia, you can already predict every single scene in this movie and how it will play out.

I hear the Mad Hatter raps.

When I first saw the movie, I wondered, "Where in the world did all the whimsy and the non-linear format go?" But then I read somewhere and explination around the lines that the traditional Wonderland story is something from the fantasy of a child, with no real rhyme or reason (well, there's plenty of rhyme, but you know what I mean). This is the setting as seen from the perspective of an adult, in which most of the characters fit some sort of archetype and the plot actually has a logical flow. It made me enjoy the movie much more. Despite the fact that we now have a generation thinking Alice in Wonderland is all about warfare.

Although it was a huge mistep to reveal Alice would slay the Jabberock five minutes into the thing. Not that anyone would doubt she would, but it still makes the ending more obviously a foregone conclusion than it should have been. Even though her "Off with your head!" line was awesome.

Generally feel Tim Burton's a hack so I'm avoiding this.

Haven't like a movie of his since the first Batman.

I rate it a 3 out of 5.
It's not as good of a movie as I thought it'd be, but it's decent.
If you want to see it, get it on bootleg or at least go for the one that's not 3-D (the 3-D is more expensive)

Hell, at least I got a free pair of 3-D glasses.

My mum's taking my sister to see it soon, I hope it isn't a flop.

I disagree with this interpretation. Alice in Wonderland is based on dream logic, which as rhyme and reason, just a surreal one. And even adults have dreams rooted in subconscious dream logic.

^^^I agree

^^^^^^I don't completely agree!

I enjoyed the movie it was fun. I think it had Tim Burton's whimsy, not necessarily Lewis Carroll's whimsy though. (It did try to stay more faithful to his artstyle though) It also was rather surreal in that the Underland was made as a reflection of Alice's current life and disdain with society much in tune with the original intention of the book. (Actually, there are a lot of homages to the books which I did enjoy even though they were obvious)

I just think this movie suffers from an Identity crisis. It really should have been Called Alice in Wonderland 2 (Or at least, "Through the Looking Glass"), in the context of the story it clearly is apparent it's suppose to take place after, and it compiled elements from both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass into an original story. So that much was fun for me.

I could understand why they decided to name it as such, calling it "Alice in Wonderland 2" would be too confusing for most, they wanted to get the most attention and money so they titled it in the most recognizable way, and I think people who were expecting a more faithful telling of the story (which one can assume due to the artstyle coming in) were disappointed because of it.

I just think that more obvious interpretation of Alice's surreal perception on reality made the movie very enjoyable to me, and I enjoyed the more modern theme of Alice being an independent woman in the end (even though I don't think it was realistic)

I can't say that it wasn't unlike Narnia, it had similarities, but it felt like it had more purpose than Narnia which (thinking about it now) is more fantasy for the sake of fantasy.

I was a little disappointed at the end. SHE WENT BACK :(

She should have stayed with the Hatter. But whatever. I mean, she could have stayed there and the guy would have eventually given up and figured she died or something, and then she wouldn't have to worry. But that tends to happen to all my favorite movies...them turning out the way I don't want them to -___-

I really liked it, though. The effects were pretty nice and it was a good time length. The Hatter was my favorite ^^

I don't really know what to think about the movie. It wasn't as awesome as I hoped it would be but it wasn't bad either.

The things I did like
-The animation was awesome! I loved the cheshire cat and the white rabbit and everything!<3
-The March Hare! God, he was hilarious xD I loved the Hatter en the Red Queen too.

The things I didn't like
-The whole 'omg we are going to die and Alice is the only one that can save us!!'-thing. Meh, I'm not really into Chosen Ones and stuff.
- Wasn't anyone else bothered with Alice her acting? Maybe it's just me, but she acted with no emotion at all and it bothered me. A friend of mine said she could have easily been replaced with a cucumber xD
-...WTH was up with that futterwacken thing?o_O

I'm just a bit dissapointed...

Agreed with this. In addition, I didn't like how they gave all the Wonderland citizens NAMES. Jabber was very disappoint at that. Also, their constant referring to the Jabberock as the "Jabberwocky." Ugh.

Buuuut... Count Dooku as the Jabberwock and Snape as the Caterpillar made my day. :)

Ah yes, forgot about that, that annoyed me too! What's wrong with just Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat and stuff, suddenly they all had names o_O
Antoher thing I forgot on the 'Don't like list':
WTH was up with Alice going to China or something at the end?! She comes back from Wonderland (Underland, whatever they call it these days) and suddenly she's a businesswoman or something? That was just really weird...

Ugh and why didn't she tell her sister that her husband was cheating on her, that guy needed a slap in the face:p
